Story Behind The Song
My job sucked, my boss sucked. The higher I went up the corporate ladder the more everything sucked. I wrote the song in my head while riding my bike to work. Actually got to play it with my boss in the audience. He did not get the humor. Or if he did, he did not think it was funny.
Song Description
A tongue in cheek recitation of the joys (wink, wink) of leadership in the corporate world.

Lyrics
Captain of Industry
© steve rapson, soloperformer.com
When I grow up I want to be
A Captain of Industry
Standing high above the fray
It's best on top they say
Captain of Industry
It's what I want to be
Captain of Industry
Captain of you,
Captain of me
In a tower high above
The masses as they push and shove
Surely there's no better way
For a boy to spend his day
Captain of Industry
It's what I want to be
Captain of Industry
Captain of you,
Captain of me
Gotta to pay the cost
The cost to be the boss
No matter what is lost...
See the people down below
Like marionettes they go
To the left and to the right
I control with all my might
Captain of Industry
It's what I want to be
Captain of Industry
Captain of you,
Captain of me
