Story Behind The Song
A protest song that took years to absorb. During my life I have watched the lack of progress as White people have degraded, humiliated, stole opportunity, deprived my family and other non-Whites of respect and a sense of belonging. Each time there was a killing or and incident against a Black person or people the system would call the Black leaders together to talk about it. But it is the people who hold the power that need to be called out. The Black man is not nor has he ever been the problem ... It is the White supremacists and holders of power that won't relinquish sharing wealth and power that are the problem. In the news Black mothers, were sentenced to years in jail for sending their children to better schools outside their districts vs wealthy White actresses, Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, receiving 2 weeks & 2 months respectively for college admission bribery. Black people languish with lengthy prison sentences for marijuana possession while the White makers of OxyContin deceived how addictive the painkillers are and are able to negotiate their minimal penalties. Watching continued news stories of police and courts handling White and Black suspects differently. Watching continued news stories of carding of Black people so much higher than Whites. I myself as a very successful businessman had trouble securing bank loans vs my White and less successful business friends easily getting bank loans. The song is about the inequities and who is hiding their true agendas.
Song Description
White supremacists are individual business leaders, CEOs, politicians and community leaders and those embedded in police forces or legal terrorist organizations like the KKK. They are supported by people in power as well as sustaining organizations such as police and courts, policy makers, social organizations and society in general. Whites have privileges, rights and protections that non-Whites do not have. They profit in society and education and financially by their racism while non-Whites are kept down. White people profit from similar activities that Black people are criminalized for or denied.

Lyrics
DEM SHEETS
Take me from the land I love
Make me toil for free
Make the White man richer
Steal my loves from Me
Take the chains from around my limbs
Pretend to set me free
Put the chains around my heart
Drive me to my knees
The problem is the White mans'
It's he who will not see
It's he who takes pleasure
In destroying Me.
It's the white mans' indifference
It's his own apathy
Towards the White racists
That's crucifying Me
The White man he gets richer
As he steals the Black man's pride
Shoots Black kids on the streets
And smirks while Momma cries
The White man jails the Black man
For selling a little pot
While the White man he gets richer
Selling percs and oxycot
The Black man is not the problem
As you can clearly see
Only the White man
Knows who's under dem sheets
The problem is the White man
His sense of superiority
Entitlement and privilege makes him think
That he is better than Me.
It's not a racial problem
As they would have you believe
It's a White mans' problem
To deal with reality
It's not a Black mans' problem,
Don't lay the blame on Me
Go deal with your own folks
And set my People free
