Song Description
this is, quite literally, a story about little statues of angels falling off a second story balcony and breaking and the man living in the basement apartment below retrieving, repairing and caring for them. Observing the richness of the symbolism of this happening was too good an opportunity to pass up, so i scribbled out some thoughts and David Robinson used his amazing compositional, production and vocal talents to turn it into an appropriately eerie song.

Headless Angels
© 2011 Starburst/David Robinson
(for Uncle Mark)
In my backyard they fall so hard it happens day and night
No earthly form sometimes they swarm to my graveyard of fright
Oh worry dread they've lost their heads I must do something now
What can I do what shall I do beyond just kneel and bow
Sometimes they come into my house to share their breath of soul
I'm unafraid they're just waylaid spirits who I know
Adhesive glue and loving too the secrets of my trade
Fallen angels everyone these new friends I have made
(chorus)
Headless angels everyone
Caretaker of their dreams
Promises now fallen short
Though things aren't as they seem
I'll nurse them back to heavens light
My garden of good themes
Headless angels everyone
Caretaker of their dreams
(bridge)
What of these spirits in between
Their presence in this place
A gifted kiss upon my cheek
To bless me with their grace
(chorus)
Headless angels everyone
Caretaker of their dreams
Promises now fallen short
Though things aren't as they seem
I'll nurse them back to heavens light
My garden of good themes
Headless angels everyone
Caretaker of their dreams
