Story Behind The Song
I was asked to sing at a rescue fundraiser, and that is when I wrote this song. I run an animal rescue, and I have seen a lot of things, some of them not too pleasant. Sometimes people see what they want to see, and hide from the truth. With this song, I would like people to see and feel in their hearts something of what these animals go through, and maybe the next time they see one on the street,or parking lot, they will try to do something to help, rather than pretend there is no prolem, or it's somebody else's.
I have also written another version of this song relating to displaced people.
Song Description
There are so many homeless animals out on the streets, and I believe many people who hear this song have run across the various scenarios mentioned .This song is intended to speak for these animals who cannot speak for themselves, and portray the very thoughts and feelings that I believe they go through.

Lyrics
VERSE 1:
Did you see me by the side of the road
did you look away, then pass me by...
Did you know I was in pain? Did you know that I can cry?
Did you know I once had a family of my own?
Now I can't remember my name, or what it's like to have a home....
VERSE 2:
Hey,,,Lady did you see me in the parking lot
of your favorite grocery store...
Did you pat me on the head, feed me some bread,
or did you walk right through that door?
Did you even wonder where I was
when you came out and drove away?
As I watched you from the distance,
I knew I wouldn't find a home today....
BRIDGE:
Hey Mister I'm so tired and scared,
do you know how long I've been alone?
Can you take me somewhere, find somebody who cares,
even if you won't take me home?
I'm not asking for much, just a gentle touch,
and I won't bother you again....
All I need is a little help from you,and someone to call a friend...
VERSE 3:
Did you see me on the sidewalk looking or food
as I was walking down the street one day...
Did you know I've been abused, hungry and confused,
did you know I've lost my way?
When you saw me playing with your children
did you turn me out or take me in?
Did you know I'm one of God's creations,
and with your help,we all can win...
(BRIDGE IS REPEATED,THEN ENDING)
ENDING:
I don't know what I did that was so wrong,
did I eat too much, did I cry............too......long................
