Story Behind The Song
I hate Valentines day. I have always wanted to write an anti-love song. This song is more about a dysfunctional relationship. However, I took artistic liberty and blended the relationship with 3 women in this song. The one that "had" me liked me, but I didn't fit her profile for what she thought she needed. The one I was around the most didn't want me and I couldn't get away from. The one I really wanted, even though I was around her often, I couldn't tell for several reasons. In fact quite a number of the lines in this song were directed to her more than the one that "had" me. They all considered me a friend. In the end the one that had me walked away to pursue her perfect blue print of life. I finally got away from the one that didn't want me. The one I wanted found out.
Now I suppose they are all gone. I think each one had to go through or are going through their own personal brand of torment by not having me around. Hell, maybe not. I just know that two of them I don't miss. And the one I wanted? well..."every time I think about you, well I fall down on my knees" and "someday I'll be over you but it just might take a while". Don't you wish you could rewind your life or someone else's a couple of years?? Maybe I think too much. I still believe in love. I still hate Valentines day.
