Cougar In the Church
Words and Music by Stuart A. Stone
She walked into the church about a quarter to eleven
Every head snapped around and they forgot about heaven
The choir stuttered first: seven hymnals hit the ground
Her body made a statement without making a sound
There's a cougar in the church, every woman grabbed her man
They could see she's on the prowl, and don't let go of his hand
She's got a lot of skill, and she gives a lot of thrills
But it always ends up badly, so hide while you can.
Cougar, cougar.
From the moment that he saw her, the young deacon's faced turned red
Maybe from a memory of something long past said
Could be he saw a challenge for a soul that long was lost
Or maybe he was wondering how much this thing was gonna cost
There's a cougar in the church the deacon hasn't got a prayer
He starts squirming in his seat, but he can't get on outta there
She's got a lot of skill, and she gives a lot of thrills
But it always ends up badly, though it just don't seem fair
Cougar, cougar
Her eyes locked on the deacon sitting there in pew thirteen
From somewhere in the nursery they both heard a baby scream
She slid right next to him- he melted from her smile
He knew if he was going out, he was going out in style
There's a cougar in the church the deacon hasn't got a prayer
He knows he done her wrong, now he can't get on outta there
She's got a lot of skill, and she gives a lot of thrills
But it always ends up badly, though it just don't seem fair
There's a cougar in the church but the deacon's had his day
You can see she's on the prowl, but now she's gonna stay
She's got a lot of skill, and she gave a lot of thrills
But the cougar had his baby and the deacon's gotta pay
Cougar, cougar.
