Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song about seeing my now-wife for the first time, which was right about the time the movie "Damaged" came out. I saw her through I camera lens while I was videotaping auditions being held by a friend for a local show on ACTV, Austin's Community Access Television. Well, what can I say -- I was blown away. It's a great feeling, but it's also an anxious feeling because you don't know if you'll ever get to know that person. In this case, things worked out pretty good.
Song Description
"Damaged" is a slow, funky tune about the bittersweet quality of love at first site. This arrangement features a four-part horn section, harmonica, droning wah-wah guitar, and some pretty creative bass playing. Austin Arena magazine called it, "Sly Stone meets Chicago meets Joe Jackson."

Lyrics
If you tied all the hearts around the world,
mine would break the chain
?Cuz ever since I saw your pretty face,
I haven't been the same
Don't let your hair down, Baby.
Can't you see?
Whatcha trying to do to me?
Sweet Auburn sunset,
flowing locks of symphony
Damaged, for the last time
Damaged, I can't get through
Damaged, for the last time
I've been trying to get to you,
trying to get to you
Maybe I could try not to think of you,
but that would be in vain
Because your eyes are so pure, they're criminal
and they're driving me insane
Your the most beautiful thing I've ever seen,
inside my body screams
Angelic love song,
won't you show some sympathy?
Damaged, for the last time
Damaged, I can't get through
Damaged, for the last time
I've been trying to get to you,
trying to get to you
