Story Behind The Song
I was inspired to write this after reading a book about relationships and marriage.
Song Description
Imago is the Latin word for image, a psychological term for the ideal love. We all have this image of what our ideal love is even if it is subconscious and usually based on a combination of people we know from childhood. Ie. parents, caregivers. Unfortunately this isn't always a good thing if those people were bad parents or had bad characteristics.

My Imago © Thea Kearney
Lavender lilacs and wisteria, so beautiful they smell so sweet
But like these flowers, what makes them special is,
That like you they die, they only last for one week.
Stay with me for one night. Let me pretend that you'll save me.
In the dark for one night, tell me you won't make it right.
My imago. I won't let go
Of my imago, I won't let go
In the morning, I know I'll have to lick your ashes.
Say goodbye but the pain can't compare to the void inside.
My imago. I won't let go
Of my imago, I won't let go
No reason can control this desperation, fantasy stings like an acid in my hands.
But reality is no cure. If I could only be a robot, is all this pain worth a moment of joy?
My imago. I won't let go
Of my imago, I won't let go
I'm looking for someone that can torment me -- fill me with passion and misery.
Nothing's new, why am I surprised when they leave again?
Two halves to make a whole, Let me heal your wounds.
My imago. I won't let go
Of my imago, I won't let go
My imago. I won't let go
Of my imago, I won't let go
