Story Behind The Song
I got inspired to write this song when I passed a homeless man on the street one day in a wheelchair with no legs. He was talking to another homeless guy about Vietnam. All these guys had next to them were a couple of large cardboard boxes that they obviously covered themselves up with at night. The legless guy saw me passing and sang to me, "I ain't got no legs, no, but I still got my voice and I can sing you a song and make you smile." I looked at him and he was smiling and yes, he made me smile. And it made me think about our country's veterans and how fucked up it is that people who dedicate their lives to protecting us and our nation are treated like second class citizens when they return with an injury or a disability. Every veteran, especially those who served in war, should have a warm, safe place to sleep, hot meals and medical care for life. No exceptions. We take better care of our Felons in this country than we do our veterans. This needs to change.

Lyrics
A touch seems so cruel
Your veil, I can't see through
Take your violent breeze and sweep it over me, 'cuz
I can't take away the sight of your lonely face
But, I can fill your cup with shame
And God- he just walks on by
as you lay down in your coat of snow
No, I can't take it away now
No, I can't take away that pain
But, I can, I can fill your cup with shame
like everybody else does
And God- he just walks on by
God- yeah, he just walks on by you everyday
No, he don't care how you got there, no no
as you lay down in your coat of snow.
