Unsung Hero

Story Behind The Song

Growing up, it was not considered acceptable to be anything other than hetero, straight, and rugged. If you had other ideas, you quickly learned to suppress them or get beat up a lot. While it's more acceptable now, it's hard for my generation to 'be who you really are'...this song is for everybody who is tired of playing a role.

Song Description

Bottom line: be who you are, don't try to fit into what society says you are supposed to be. Be an unsung hero in your own mind, no matter what anybody else thinks.

Lyrics

VERSE
You must facilitate the predicate
You have to learn to be the ball
Three minutes can make you a liar
It'll make fools of us all

I'm Born but then I'm lost again
Just trying to find my own way
In a world that wants to fall apart
When I want to make it stay

CHORUS
I put myself in another place
But I find I'm a stranger there
I'm high as a kite on a weekday
And I can't seem to care

You never know what's over there
The grass looks green I know
It seems to look greener where
You just not supposed to go

VERSE
My rock, my center, my true self
Is the basis of my soul
But it's hard to be who I really am
'Cause I have to play this role

I'm an unsung hero in my mind
But no one else agrees
I live with delusions of grandeur
But I live that life with ease

CHORUS
I put myself in another place
But I find I'm a stranger there
I'm high as a kite on a weekday
And I can't seem to care

You never know what's over there
The grass looks green I know
It seems to look greener where
You just not supposed to go

BRIDGE
You have to be who you really are
Sometimes you have to dance
You can't look at the other side
Sometimes you take a chance

The world can be beautiful
But not everyone agrees
I'm an unsung hero in my mind
But that's alright with me

CHORUS
I put myself in another place
But I find I'm a stranger there
I'm high as a kite on a weekday
And I can't seem to care

You never know what's over there
The grass looks green I know
It seems to look greener where
You just not supposed to go
