Story Behind The Song

The Great Famine in Ireland (1844-49) is credited with destroying the cohesion of the remaining Gaelic-speaking populations, reducing the population of Ireland both by starvation death and emigration, principally to the US and Canada.

Bill Ginn came in to Rick Cunha's studio while I was working on a piece about the Irish Famine and recorded some of the music.
