Story Behind The Song

Was having a conversation with friends about the lie of omission. Most agreed that "if no one asks, there ain't no lie." They stayed up and partied. I went back to my room and wrote this.

Song Description

If this song were a movie, I think it would be a very dark comedy. Even the kindest, gentlest of souls have a "creature" inside waiting to be provoked to wakefulness. Anyone who hasn't met their creature simply hasn't been provoke enough yet. This woman, while being able to accept the infidelity of her significant other, totally "lost it" when confronted by the chicanery of her best friend. But in the friends case it wasn't all about her deception. It's the stark reality without the friend to go to, our subject feels herself utterly alone. In many animal groups as well as some human societies, shunning or being cut off from the herd's support is the most cruel of punishments. She didn't really do it for love, she did it out of abandonment. Upon finding herself alone, she embraces then finds humor in the outcome. In the movie she would no doubt become a serial killer.
