Story Behind The Song
Apostle R. D. Henton, pastor of Monument of Faith in Chgo, Ill and my pastor labors over altar call. On this occassion he was laboring over the altar call and not a soul responded. Yet, I felt in my spirit that there was a soul who should have responded. I thought about the possibility that the altar call could have been the last altar call for that soul.

Lyrics
Verse: The preacher told the story of God's love
How Jesus died for our sins and shed his blood
Preacher said the holy moment has come for your soul
Won't you come to the altar let him make you whole
Chorus: When you hear the altar call, make no mistake
It's your name he is calling don't hesitate
Don't wait for tomorrow may be too late
For this may very well be your last altar call
Verse: Slowly the young man rose from his seat
Quickly moved to the altar and fell on his knees
With tears he cried lord please forgive me
The joy that flooded his soul was clear for all to see
Chorus: When you hear the altar call, make no mistake
It's your name he is calling don't hesitate
Don't wait for tomorrow may be too late
For this may very well be your last altar call
Verse: His wife had prayed so long for this moment to come
They laughed and talked on the way home
Suddenly a car from no one hit them head on
As he lay dying these words he said before he was gone
Bridge:
Thank you lord for saving me
Thank you lord for setting me free
Thank you lord for saving grace
Now I' m ready to see your face
Chorus: When you hear the altar call, make no mistake
It's your name he is calling don't hesitate
Don't wait for tomorrow may be too late
For this may very well be your last altar call
For this may very well be your last altar call
