Story Behind The Song
Written after a chance and throwaway line from Maria to Carole! The images rushed in, from my past and the song unfurled itself instantly. Maria and I wrote the music together between gigs in Germany and finished it just in time for the Private Wars recording session. Everything was a first take and no overdubs.

Lyrics
Remember (That You Did It First with Me)
words by Carole Nelson:
music by Carole Nelson and Maria Walsh
When you take her to the island
When you help her from the boat
When you show her all that beauty
Dissolve into remote
Remember, remember,
Remember that you did it first with me.
When you take her to the restaurant
Where you dance to violins
When you whisper that you love her
While the music soars and spins
Remember, remember,
Remember that you did it first with me.
I'm not looking for revenge
And I don't want sympathy
I only want what once was ours
And still belongs to me
When the moon lights up her body
As she lies across your bed
When you slide yourself inside her
Inside her body and her head
Remember, remember,
Remember that you did it first with me.
When you explore the edge of love
When you wear her silver ring
When you swear to love forever
And to always tell her everything
Remember, remember,
Remember that you did it first with me
I'm not looking for revenge
And I don't want sympathy
I only want what once was ours
And still belongs to me
