Spin started out as a duo, with Martin and Simon experimenting into new sounds to soon record the first demo entitled Pead. Shortly afterwards, the need for a richer sound called for new fulltime recruits. The current lineup is made up of Andre (on Bass), Josef (on Guitars) and Eric (on samples and programming) with Martin focusing on drums and Simon concentrating more on vocals.

Spin's sound evolved in an innovative blend of heavy and intense music combined with an effective industrial and mechanical touch. In October 2001, Spin entered Temple Studios to release the single Y¿ which immediately found its way to the local metal radio shows. The band re-entered the studios to record the 7-track EP entitled Cell 46, which was released in March 2002. The response to this CD was exceptional, getting excellent reviews from magazines, webzines and radio shows such as BW&BK (Canada), Infernal Combustion (USA), The Darkest Hours (Canada), Dark City (Russia) and Radio Riot (Italy).
