Art began playing the Saxophone in junior high school. In high school he was very active in the concert, marching and jazz band. Art received many accolades such as: All-State Solo and Ensemble Saxophonist, 1st Chair All-Region & TVCC Alto, Tenor & Baritone Saxophonist, Art was also an alternate for the McDonald's All-American Band. Art developed a high standard of performance through the teachings of James Shelton and Phillip Hatton, his early professors. He not only learned the technical aspect of the horn, but he learned that the audience plays a major role towards whether you make it in the music business. Art grew up listening to Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, David Sanborn and Kim Waters to name a few. Art is an active performer who warms his audience before, during and after a performance.
