"No matter where I am or what I'm doing, I always feel like I should be playing music," says Steven Judge in an interview with the St. Pete Times this past Spring. Being one of forty singers in the Central Florida area invited to audition for the CBS television series CBS Rockstar Supernova, Steven reflected on his life in the warm-up room at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
Steven grew up in Long Island, New York with his 5 brothers and sisters. He spent most of his adolesence inviting anyone he could find over to his house to jam. Playing in many original metal bands, Steven gigged heavily throughout the Long Island area, shredding his way to the hearts of metal heads everywhere. He also joined a cover band called So Close, performing at universities and festivals throughout the island.
In the 90's Steven formed a band called Draught, who sold 75 copies of their album during their first gig. After becoming exposed to more earthy bands such as Radiohead and Jeff Buckley, Steven changed the direction of the band, recorded a CD entitled Sleep in a Bottle and continued on his musical quest. The song "Astronaut" was requested frequently on USB 90.1, Stony Brook University's radio station. Steven also performed solo acoustic at the university for the French Consulate, and yes, he sang in French..
During this time Steven also gigged extensively doing a one man acoustic show. He played everything from Springsteen to Pearl Jam and created a solid fan base.
Just this past July(2006) Steven reunited with an old bandmate and played at a local Long Island club, rocking well into the morning.
Needing a change, Steven moved to Florida, where he landed a job as a middle school English teacher. He soon hooked up with a punk band called the No Loves and performed with the band for about a year.
At the current time, Steven resides in Spring Hill, Florida, writing and recording music in his studio. He has formed a new band (myspace.com/RedAppleDynamite), and is hitting the pavement, seeking out gigs for both his original and cover acts.
