Tony Vegas has been playing guitar for about half a century with a powerful blues style. While much influenced by Freddy King, Jr. Walker, Eric Clapton, and others Tony prefers to call his guitar and vocal style "Old school Rock / R&B." Tony grew up in California "When everybody wanted to sound like the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean --- I wanted to sing like Wilson Pickett and play like Freddy King."
The Tony Vegas Group (TVG) features BB (beisbol) Villanueva on bass, P. Velucci on keyboards (depending on bus routs), and "The masterful" Andy Haley on drums. Note: Tony and Andy are members of the original TVG which payed the Philadelphia (PA) area for a couple of decades last century.
Tony Vegas Bio
Tony Vegas is a professional guitarist/singer/song writer and a member of ASCAP since 1981.
"When I first saw Tony Vegas he was playing with "The Green Card Band" at one of the top tourist spots in Panama City Beach. Tony would open the shows stating "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we?re The Green Card Band here to make sure your property values plummet" -- That is kind of ironic since Tony is a very successful Real Estate broker in the area.
Tony was doing Latin renditions of just about every Beatle hit. Tony (Cuban born and raised) along with two (very Latin) percussionists was kicking all kinds of Latin grooves out to us -- Old Cuban standards, clever renditions, original material, a lot of Santana stuff, and then he'd play the blues.
When Tony plays the blues you know right where his heart is -- Tony tells a funny story about when he first heard Eric Clapton play Hideaway back in 1967 -- Man, it was the coolest, I learned every lick! Then I jammed with these old blues guys and I was really surprised that they knew Hideaway, I told them I picked that up from Eric Clapton, but they quickly told me that I was playing Freddy King! -- I went and got all his records."

"God loves the people of New Orleans and gave music to the chosen few, I play my guitar in New Orleans and I'm gonna play the blues for you." T. Vegas
