Female rapper/producer/ceo Flow has been recording music since the age of 16. Hiding in the shadow of legendary chicago producer Traxter, flow learned the basics of producing, recording, and marketing an album before she could even rap. I watched my friend turn a beat from off his ASR 10 into a video that played on t.v. She immediately enrolled in Columbia College to get a higher education on the business of music

Flow has recorded two mixtapes, “Against All Odds and The Hottest Summer Ever”, both are widely circulated in the Mississippi and Chicago area. I would say between the both of those we are at like 5,500 sold, who’s to say how many were bootlegged.

Flow's Bio

The Southside of Chicago has produced such a wide variety of talent, its hard to pin point what the Chicago sound is. Rapper/producer/Ceo and self-proclaimed student of music Flow is ready to define her struggle.

Performing around Chicago since the age of 16, Flow have watched many of her friends and associates shine under the lime-light of the music industry, while she hid in their shadows perfecting her craft. “I learned the fundamentals of producing from sitting up under then local producers Traxter, Toxic, And K-Tone.”. After learning about the shady business tactics of the industry, she decided to learn the business of music and enrolled in Columbia College.

Flow decided to move out to Atlanta to pursue a career in music, but ended up back in the dope game. “Rapping was like the last thing on my mind. I was making stacks fast, so I wasn’t focused on the what ifs anymore”. Taking the advice of a close friend, Flow decided to get back into music. Her friend vowed to put the money up to buy a studio and start a label. Three months into the project Flow’s friend was locked up and sentenced to twenty years.

“After my boy caught that case, man I was through with the music shit. I felt like we were so close but so far. The same old story. I also felt like damn he aint getting out until he's like 50, fuck this dope shit! I gotta make this rap shit happen.” Flow moved to Mississippi with what she had left and started over. She met her friend and business partner Ro whom she teamed up with to start United Thugz Entertainment. Feeling the pressure to pursue her dream they formed a group and recorded an album in one week. “We pressed up a couple of thousand copies of our first lp “The End of Tha Beginning” and went back to Atlanta to make something happen.” With no promotional products, or radio play the group consisting of Took from Chicago, Ro from Mississippi, D-Rugz from Mississippi, and Flow. “We sold 2,000 copies without effort. All we would say to get people to buy it was pop it in”. Then came the big I and little U syndrome. The group disbanded, everybody went their separate ways.

Now in 2005, it is a completely new program. It’s UT or nothing. “We decided as a company it would be beneficial to focus on one artist at a time, and the time I was the one that was most convenient. That way we can promote when we need to. Flow has recorded two mixtapes, “Against All Odds and The Hottest Summer Ever” that are widely circulated in the Mississippi and Chicago area. I would say between the both of those we are at like 5,500 sold, who’s to say how many were bootlegged. Took just dropped a mixtape in Chicago “Livin 2 Die” that’s doing pretty well. We’re thinking more like an executive now, before we were thinking like artist.”
