Sean Rasul is an independent music artist, poet, and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. Born and raised on the city's West Side (Division and Central), his journey began when he would freestyle with friends on inner-city blocks. He has shared stages with artists such as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Chamillionaire, Fat Joe, and the Ying Yang Twins. He has released three independent albums and numerous singles inspiring fans across the USA and abroad. His song “Champion” was featured on season 1 of MTV's reality series "Taking The Stage".

Sean Rasul releases inspirational new single, "Refuse to Lose"
“Refuse to Lose” is the fifth single from independent hip-hop artist, Sean Rasul. The song highlights the hardships Black Americans continue to face and encourages persistence in the fight for freedom, justice, and equality. It is the native Chicagoan’s first release since 2013. His 2008 single “Champion” was produced by Grammy Award Winner, Madukwu Chinwah, and featured on an episode of MTV’s “Taking the Stage.”

Sean Rasul is an independent artist from Chicago, Illinois. Born and raised on the city's West Side, his journey began when he would freestyle with friends on inner-city blocks. He has since written countless songs and poems and has performed spoken word pieces on stages in the United States and Japan. His musical and inspirational seeds have been planted as far as the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He has shared stages with Fat Joe, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and The Ying Yang Twins.
Sean draws inspiration from his ancestors, his experiences, the successes and failures of others, his travels, and from studying life, using that inspiration to paint a picture. Like it or not, he puts the picture on display. His success is defined by the mere fact that he is actually doing what he loves.
Rasul released his debut album, "The Showcase" (Country Cool Records) in March of 2005. The album was produced entirely by Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer Madukwu Chinwah, who also created hits for Erykah Badu, N'Dambi, and many others. The album was an inspiring effort that blended old and new school musical elements and featured wonderful spoken word poetry, hip-hop, and smooth urban grooves.
Sean Rasul's sophomore indie release, "Ghetto Child" (Live Root/WRIMG) featured progressive hip-hop, street poetry, and soulful/experimental jams. The album's breakout single "Champion" featured on season 1 of MTV's reality series "Taking The Stage." With guest appearances from Big Sid & LD of Playaz Choice, Rasul proteges Neri & Alexis, KaDi of Kinetic Soul Entertainment, and solid production from Texas producers Chinwah (Dallas), Michael Duque (Austin), Yung Chill (Houston), and German-based Kemo of Evocators, the album demonstrated significant growth for the driven and determined artist.
A series of singles were released in 2010 and 2011; "Free" featuring Cicely Walker, "Higher" featuring Stephanie, "The Future" featuring Big Sid and Yung Chill, and the recently released EP entitled "How I Feel" which includes the title track along with the popular acoustic track "Prodigal Son" featuring Alex Loc.
Sean Rasul released his debut mixtape "Newborn" in 2012. His third full-length indie album "Prodigal Son" was released on July 16, 2013.
Rasul's latest single "Refuse to Lose" was released on June 7, 2024 and highlights the hardships Black Americans continue to experience and encourages persistence in the fight for freedom, justice, and equality.
