I'm really a pretty diverse songwriter, drawing from a wide array of musical styles and artists. Even though I mostly come from a hard rock background, I'll write whatever I feel like and try not to get stuck in a rut by sticking to one genre of music. Mainly a guitar player, I still love the sound of bone crunching guitars, but listen to Caramel, or Mountain man(which is more of a country rock song)and you'll see what I mean. Those 2 songs alone would make my old long haired comrades from the metal days throw up LOL. True artistry means letting go, and expressing yourself...no rules. More to come.

Sonny's background

Sonny Garcia was born in The Bronx New York, 1965, but lived in Queens till the age of 13 before his family relocated to the countryside in upstate NY. His upbringing was drowned in diverse sea of music ranging from 50's doo wop, motown, classic rock of Grand Funk the Stones and the Beatles, latin persuasions of Tito Puente and so on. Then it was on to the discoveries of hard rock and metal, and being influenced by Kiss, Foghat, Blackfoot, AC/DC, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, and so on. Began playing guitar at age 13, and was completely self taught, learning by ear. Learning how to sing while driving his car, obsessing and practicing until he got it right. Realizing early on, that a good song was more important than showing off a great solo, he threw himself into songwriting. Eventually he placed in the top ten songs in the annual Billboard songwriting contest, won a best song award from rock station WBAB on Long Island, and toured most of the country playing in various bands and opening for National acts. His music has been used in various radio commercials and he has even written a few jingles. Recently, his song Mountain Man was chosen to be featured in an independant film due out later this year. The last project was his own band, Swamp Lords, but after the death of his childhood friend and lifelong bass player Bob Hurn, he decided to just throw himself into writing/recording full time now.

Hey Tristyn, just wanted to say thank you for the kind words. I don't come on this site as much as I use to, so I had no idea you posted this comment. For some reason I didn't get a notification either. Thank you once again, and I'll be checking out your stuff tonight.
