High Velocity Album Launch Augus
High Velocity Official CD Launch Night
August 15th 2014
What can I say!!!!What a night it was, Friday 15th Aug 2014!! Scott Nicol and the Limitless Sky celebrated the release of their new album 'High Velocity'!!! Already out in the USA during my solo tour in July, it was now Scotland's turn. I chose Ayr Beanscene as the venue. It really is a lovely place and I love the art décor and especially the black/white long wall of books that provided the amazing backdrop for the artist's.
Erin Mcevoy kicked off the concert in some style, five original songs. This girl is sensational - only about 16 years, she surely has to be a future star! She wowed the already packed venue. Next, myself, my bass player Ramsay Stewart on harmonica and Karen Henderson on violin played a rendition of Bruce Springsteen's 'The Promised Land' complete with Ramsay's soaring backing vocals!!!
Next up was Elisa Poli....another young girl, this time playing to her 'home' crowd....Elisa is really great and showed her original songs were as good as any cover she did!!
Sean C Kennedy came up next and played four originals....All of which had major hit written all over them....Sean is a class act!!
We had an amazing audience, not just in turn out, but in spirit and support, encouragement and warmth. We had some 'celebrities' in the midst also, the great photographer Martin Bone, who also directed 'Velodrome 'and 'The Silent Youth' videos for us. Willie Stewart Photographer and the Mighty Chris Bannerman and assistant Liam who 'filmed' the entire show and will be releasing footage on Wednesday 20th Aug on YouTube.com. Special mention must be made to Allister Dickson who was wonderful on the sound and must have been the hardest worker there on that evening!! Some media people were present also, Caroline Johnston from Eatacd.com/Ronnie Mcghie from Irvinebeat fm/Cheryl Scott from KA Radio/Julien Crispin from Revival fm.... I also want to thank the Beanscene staff who were really great that night!
It was time for the 'Limitless Sky' to take the floor....opening with 'High Velocity' (of course) with some extraordinary violins from Karen Henderson and Jen Watson. Richard Hamilton was immense on drums, Ramsay solid as a rock on bass and b.v.'s and David Marshall sounding better than ever with his searing and scorching guitar licks!!! The very wonderful Chloe Simpson and Unoma Okudo joined us on vocals and were incredible, we even had John Duffy join us playing the 'bouzouki' on 'Factories'. We ripped through an eight song set and tore the roof off with closing song 'Electric City'.
The night was still young and Chloe Simpson came up and played four beautiful songs, three originals and one great cover 'mash up' - she is great.
Last but not least was John Duffy, who is the producer on 'High Velocity' and Simon Atkinson plus some musos who had already played and Martin Henderson who grabbed the bass and joined in, they were all wonderful.
The Limitless Sky plus guests closed the whole night with a very spontaneous version of Kings of Leon Song 'Beautiful War'...It was electrifying and had the whole Beanscene on their feet and proved to be an amazing end to a most memorable night! Thanxxx to all who came and made it so special!!!!! Xxxx Scott Nicol!!!!
