Story Behind The Song
I co wrote the music with Peter Eldridge. It's a motivic verse that felt like it needed a very poetic and classic prose. The melody of the counterpoint was meant to balance the verse melody and offer some energy and contrast. The chorus was structured to be a joyful release. I wrote the lyrics from my memories of sitting on the rocks in Rockport, MA staring out at the choppy, turbulent ocean. This was meant to be a dedication to self and fate - surrendering to what is to be.
As an aside, I felt this to be a rather adult text that that demographic would enjoy. What has been so remarkable is how much a younger audience has identified with the song and found it to be really inspiring.
Song Description
This song is about appreciating the magnitude of Mother Nature and Self. The lyrics praise the beauty of our surroundings and the idea of "letting go" while also encouraging to live in the moment. And that more specifically, our journey is ultimately a solitary one.
The male counterpoint is meant to be more of a stream of conscience heartbeat.

Lyrics
There Alone Go I
Music by Lauren Kinhan and Peter Eldridge
Lyric by Lauren Kinhan
To have come among you rock and sea
Where the nearness of you quiets me
Windblown accolades, bearing down the day
For my soul to keep
Evergreen hold court with fierce and few
Sounding organ pipes, a solemn fugue
Hold me in the sway, Keeping words away
I'm letting go
(bend your branches over me)
I'm letting go
(all this light surrounding me)
Still in the moment,
mile after mile,
There Alone Go I
Leaf and Piper follow gusty dreams
Once remembered, vanish aimlessly
Running through the maze
Time just marks a day
I'm letting go
(bend your branches over me) over me
I'm letting go
all this light surrounding me)
Still in the moment,
mile after mile
There Alone Go I
Hollow out my heart
Belly to the north
Feeling like a thousand moments
fighting to be born
I'm so tired,
I can't see randomly
Where the road begins and ends with me
Footsteps in the sand
Here is where I am
For my soul to keep
Male Counterpoint:
1st Verse:
The woodwinds are playing a near perfect chorus
Of that which will be
which haunts me now and ever more
I find it amazing that suddenly all the mem'ries I saved are here
I saved them for this one day
2nd Verse:
There's a lady who's traveled this road with a brown bag of near misses
The kind that shape a heart, that shape a heart
She arrived on a Saturday calling a name no one will recall
Forgotten through time and age
