What is Dreamrock?

Candidate is a dreamrock band from Brooklyn, NY that makes hook-laden anthems. What is dreamrock, you say? Isn't that a made-up word, you say? Let us note, first of all, that all words are made up. No name, since the beginning of time, has inhered in any object. Let us further consider that no named object is a monolith, but the name is merely shorthand for a collection of things, ideas or objects. An apple is still an apple without its stem and a car with three wheels is no less a car.

Dreamrock: essentially it is a combination of post-punk and shoegaze with late '80's/early '90's American indie and grunge and Britpop, i.e. The Replacements meets U2 meets Scritti Politti meets Sunny Day Real Estate, all making out in one superawesome rock make out party.

So far, Candidate--which comprises Cedric Sparkman, Laurence Adams, Jason Matuskiewicz and Chris Infusino, with help from boy genius and superproduer, Justin Craig--is the only purveyor of dreamrock on planet Earth. It is unknown whether there are other dreamrock bands in the galaxy and/or cosmos.
