Castles In Spain
The San Francisco Bay Guardian describes the music as "Bombay Zeppelin. "Imagine Jimmy Page and Robert Plant riding through the desert, kicking up dust and camel shit at some Cairo bazaar, where Chrissie Hynde is sitting in with Jane's Addiction, playing Black Sabbath and middle-eastern folk music."
Castles In Spain is fronted by lead singer, Biachi who continues the tradition of outstanding female vocalists to emerge from the San Francisco music scene. Her voice might have you doing a double-take for the name Grace Slick or Sinead O'Connor. Castles In Spain have been using their brilliant but hard to peg music and powerful performance style to benefit others by holding annual breast cancer benefits. Online Rock magazine writes "you cannot categorize the music yet the music has a pop sensibility and the performances are passionate and sincere. The band has an amazing ability to speak to their audiences."
1340 Magazine writes "the music is at once tough, lush and hypnotic, often reminiscent of the epic sounding Janes Addiction."Independently released 5 CD's. Recently, one of Castles In Spain's songs received "honorable mention" for the 15th Annual Billboard Songwriting Awards contest! Also to credit, Biachi won first place vocalist in the finals in the Emergenza World Band competition, with all other members winning second and third place with drums, bass and guitar. Completing the Castles' sound are Joe Birtola on bass, Nissim Aharon on keys, and Anthony Verdier on drums & percussion.
Castles In Spain fans have been hounding their heroes for a handful of years at San Francisco hot spots like Bottom Of The Hill, The Great American Music Hall, Red Devil Lounge and Slim's. The band is no stranger to regional touring extending their reach to San Jose, Monterey, Modesto, Sacramento, Chico, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Nevada.
