Hi Julia, thx for the 5er's. You truly have a beautiful voice
Where are you located in South Australia? N
Adelaide
I'm in south eastern Adelaide in Glen Osmond:) What day this week do you have time for a sit down? N
Hi Nathaniel, Are you ready to write some hits? A
Sorry for the delay... I'm preparing a package for you now. Should have some options, stems, and a few directions to go by monday. N
I was thinking of writing from the ground-up. While instrumentals are fine and I'm sure we could nail out lots of them, I feel the library business for instrumentals is somewhat flooded. I believe SONGS (with vocals) are the way to go in the business at the moment. The genre's for song success would be: pop , country/hip-hop-infused country or some form of rock, all very commercial. Film/tv would be singer- songwriter, indie/folk/rock ie: Jason Mraz, Mumford & Sons, Sarah Bareilles. Lyric/story needs to be of high quality or we have no hope. Your thoughts..??
I think lyrical content is good but I will challenge you this... Turn on your TV... Watch it for several hours, watch a variety of programming, your favourites, some reality TV... Then tell me how much of what you heard was instrumental vs vocal. Don't rule out your instrumentals. One leads to two leads to twenty. I have a project I just began at the top of my playlist. View from the top, if you think you could track to that I could go from there. Its a free download if you'd like to nab it. N
Stems are available as well... So if you'd like to record to any particular sequence or loop its doable.
To be honest... I do a better job when you have a chance to record at a consistent bpm and then I remix the hell out of your performance with new stems. While working with previous guitarists... End products rarely match what they handed me being the format changes as more is introduced.
I totally understand the TV/realityTV inst cues and the volume used - this does interest me(as I already do this). The case with this scenario is volume of work(& quality of course), but so many people are doing it. I'm NOT saying we can't do both, just that for TV songs ie: Grey's Anatomy, Parenthood etc. they pay good $$ better than instrumentals and 300 other Taxi members alone already have their music in these libraries/have deals with. I will have a listen. A
Also CHART songs is what we really need = hits.
Had a listen to "View From The Top" - already have a melody for it. I hear a female vocal on it - kind of haunting/singersongwriter style. Three different mixes would work ie:1. piano/electronic textures 2. piano/acoustic guitar 3. piano/elect tex/elect gtr textures. Sounds like the female vox needs the singer from the band Garbage. Ur thoughts?
Give it a download... Record some licks and shoot them to me via dropbox. Would love to get started. N
A little difficult to do - I'm not running Logic at home, at the moment. I would need to play it against the whole track & on gtr sometimes the translation is lost coz I'm trying to simulate a vocal melody line. I'll listen & try sing/hum melody into my voice recorder.
Fair enough, let me know if you need anything.
Oh, if u don't already know, watch Taxi TV - it's free. In particular a lady called Robin Frederick. Google search Ustream Taxi Tv Robin Frederick.
Transmit for you. Let me know what projects will work for you. http://www.broadjam.com/transmit/index.php?id=6093kaba 1
Sorry for the delay..... been a busy week, will listen.
Anthony. Wanna collaborate? I'm local and may have a sound you'd like to take advantage of while I'm available. If you'd like, we can have coffee at some point, talk about how to get your work published. Best: N
