Dave, Thank you for the very kind review of my music! I appreciated your comments, too. I look forward to hearing your music! Best regards, Kelly
My pleasure Kelly, I decided to click the 'random' button instead of by genre, and was pleasantly rewarded! Kindest regards, Dave
Hi Kelly, am digging your groove! Thankyou for your thorough and gracious review of my ditty '27' Your mention of 'Amy Winehouse drums' is uncanny, because the song is actually about her - and others who fell at that age in the music business. The drum loop used was a bit high end (from a boss micro br, I think) as were the vocals into the small condenser mic unfortunately. (my lack of hardware is evident sometimes!) I favour my pop slightly over to the left, a bit more indie sort of. All comments are duly noted and respected, this is why songs go up for review, to lend ears to help tweak! Kindest regards, and good luck yourself! Dave Kelly
Thanks guys for your gracious review of 'gonna make you mine'. its supposed to be a europop thing, but need to re-record and update and strengthen hooks etc. All feedback duly noted. That Bowie fella gets everywhere! Kindest regards Dave
Yeah! That's going to be one hot ticket for sure! Keep rock! Check out my new one when you get a min. It's called "Be Somebody"
Hiya Steve, thank you for your sweet review of my song 'Lil' white lies'. You were bang on as it is a work kinda in progress, it does need more in the form of catchy hook etc, hence feedback from golden eared individuals such as yourself. Will check out Marty Balin though, I dont know who he is. Kind regards, Dave
Hi Tony thank you very much for your gracious review of 'El Morricone' Its a bit of a nod towards the fantastic works of the great man himself. I really do appreciate your feedback, as this is not my primary genre, just dabbling in this at the moment, and the positive comments of someone such as your good self give me a confidence boost for this direction. You have an excellent body of work (my faves at the moment - Icarus rising, and an English country scene). Good luck! Kindest regards Dave
You are most welcome Dave & thank you for your kind comments too. best wishes Tony
Dave - Thanx for the review of "FP009" - For a Hobbyist trying to turn Pro, uplifting comments like yours will take me a long way. We should 'Connect' - talk 2 U soon. Gee.Notez
No problem my good man, it was a piece that stood out for me, yes a connection would be great. Kind regards Dave
Hiya Sylvia, just had a chance to listen to your latest wares. Very impressive, understated enough to allow the well written melodies to shine through. I was still humming 'Give me that bling' long after breakfast, which has set my day. You have actually inspired me to focus more on my melody lines! would love to hear that vocalist of yours bounced off against a male counterpart ( ala The Civil wars) on a future track or two? Regards, Dave
Dave, thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Actually, I'm the lyricist. The last 4 demos I got were great. Much success to you.
Codeine carry away, very good start to the new year guys! You cant beat raw musical talent with dash of musical genius. 2012 will not mean the end of the world after all, but, hopefully the beginning of yours? Its there for the taking. regards Dave
Wow thanks Dave! Codeine Carry Away was wrote about four years ago and wanted to get some feed back which has been great, may have to tweek this one. Is your "Lil White Lies" new will have to check it out. Good luck ahead and keep makin music! ASOH
Yeah, its a new one written on the fly... i am busy trying to learn some new software that i bought for my home studio, this one was done inbetween. cheers Dave
Hi Guys, many many thanks for your very kind review of my song '27' I get more positive feedback from this type of song at present, so will record more. Just been dabbling with synths to get an angle, but sometimes they take over! Good luck for the future Kind regards, Dave
Hi Robert many many thanks for your gracious review of my pop track ' Gonna make you mine'. It means a great deal coming from a Maestro such as your good self! You have the voice of a God Sir! Kind Regards, Dave
Thank you Dave!!! You are too kind...like you I just do my best and enjoy the journey...Your tune is cool!!! Happy New year!!! Peace,
Hi Kathryn, thank you for reviewing 'Gonna make you mine'. Pitch issues duly noted!
Hi Pete, thanks for your review of 'Dance Energy' they must be throwing my demos at you at the moment sorry! Bang on with the 80's feel by the way. The mix feels muddy as I was playing with a freeware version of autotune for some reason on the backing vox on the track, and a restructuring synth known as a 'plex', which I need to learn how to handle. Cheers Mate, Dave
Hi Pete, many thanks for your review of my dem of 'Lose yourself in me'. You were bang on with your constructive comments, its always good to get another muso opinion before getting something out there. I also want to reinforce it with more hooks. I played around with the EQ last minute in preference of a more 'bass' feel on the synths, I think that is why they have not come through as such, so I overcompensated with the choir wheel pad, although I am always looking for a 'cinematic' sound. I was worried about my falsetto attempt also! Kind regards Sir Dave
Hiya Sylvia, thank you so much for taking the time to review my ditty '27'. Its a knee-jerk to the untimely death of Amy Winehouse (amongst other fame beings of that age) and a metaphor about fame and being careful what we wish for! Its the only guitar track I have gotten around to uploading as I am mainly trying out my hand at electro-synth pop. You voice is gorgeous and reminds me a little bit of Amy MacDonald a Scottish singer songwriter, and you certainly know how to write. I do normally go straight in with a track, but opted for a change of tact with this one as it is more of a tribute in my head than trying to mainstream it. Kindest regards and good luck! Dave
I liked it; glad to do it. I'm the lyricist, so unfortunately the great voice you're referring to is not mine. Thanks though.
Thanks for your review Dave - sorry about the 32 second snip - there were some uploading probs which have been solved now. You can hear the total version soon. Thanks again - kind regards, Till
ok Till thanks, I will check it out and give you your review direct! kind regards, Dave
Thanks Dave....
Hi Dave, many thanks for the great review of my song Icy eyes. I appreciate it very much. Thank you for your great comments and the so positive rating. It's a satisfaction for me... Osea
You are welcome Osea, you could give a few artists a run for their money. Good luck and kind regards, Dave
Hi, I listened to your song "Love yourself in me". Really very original. The style remember me the U2. Osea
Hi Dave...Many thanks for your kind words and professional review of my song `Anne Boleyn ( And it came to be ) It took quite a long time to make, the problem is I dont actualy know what to do with it....Any ideas ?
Hi Derek, the time taken was well worth it! Ideas for your track? An Anne Boleyn musical written with this track as a recurring theme? A whole album of like minded gold nuggets based on historical characters? I am sure there will be other songwriters on this site, who can help in putting a 'compilation' album up on BJ if it is too big a task for one man? Set the challenge. Has there been such a thing done here before? Artistically it would bring a few songwriters together and be a solid project for the new year? I was once given permission to record 'Joan of Arc' by OMD themselves, (I know the singer/songwriter), that theme always fascinated me. Kind regards, Dave
Lads, You Are #1! Highest Rated BJ Band. Go forth and Dominate! - N
Hey Nick, We are very grateful for all the support from Artists and Fans, never thought we would have such a liking on BJ. "Bittersweet" seems to strike a cord with a lot of people and took us to #1. Hope you don't get sick of our faces everyday in the spotlight.LOL. Would like to see more of the deserving Artists here make the charts and put a smile on their face when they view BJ !! I think most of us long for a little praise, cheer, screams, and thumbs up for all the work we do to bring a song to life, I know it makes us happy!!!!
well done chaps, very much deserved! Dave
Nay, Ye are soon to be Famous, but with Fame comes Fanatics, so be careful. Also, it is hard to hold the band together when you get to The Top.
Hi Scott, many thanks for your gracious review of 'Gonna make you mine', I need a finer mix of the thing and was playing aroung with a trial version of auto-tune when this was recorded, there are lots of things I am not happy with but it is good to get 3rd party peer opinions that are valuable to me. by, the way I liked you songs also, your voice stands out with them and your vox harmonies are spot on, got a maroon 5 vibe from ' a beat she can dance to'. Kind regards, Dave
my pleasure Dave, and thank u for lisnin to my songs. i do appreciate the compliments too...
Thank you Wayne for your review of '27', the key change is a must I think, its too linear otherwise. Good luck Dave
Hi Alex, many thanks for your fantastic review of '27' (under your spell) Its about the trappings of fame and was written with the death of Amy Winehouse in mind at the age of 27, and Janis Joplin, Brian Jones etc. There is a surprising amount of stars who have died at that age, hence my title, I love metaphor, so tend to write my lyrics not as straight as a dye. Have taken onboard your constructive comments with ref to a good end chord. Your sound is very unique and I really liked your opus 'last Goodbye'. Many thanks and good luck! Dave Kelly
Hi Dave. I really enjoyed the track. I was aware of the significance of the age '27' and think that Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison were among the others who died at that age. I am glad that you liked 'Last Goodbye', although I have to credit that track to my daughter, Melanie. - Alex
Hi Nicholas, thank you for taking the time to review ' El Morricone' It took a bit of a slating from you I have to say, a little bit unnecessary. When I review other artists work, my comments make a kind of 'poop sandwich', good point - bad/constructive point - good point. The piece has actually been used in a short independent film, and was designed within the context of the section it was supporting, also it is a nod in the direction of the spagetti western genre (it interested me that it sounded sumarian, that will be because of the instrument I used - the Saz. Good luck with your work, its not bad at all. Please remember broadjam does not force you to do anything, if you do not like something, that is fine, we can all be helpful and supportive, normally a few lines extra in the comments can achieve this without apparent assassination! Regards, Dave
Where do I find reviews I've made? Can you send me what I said-- man, I'm sorry I came off like a jerk!
Hi Nicholas, I think they are found on the left column, under song reviews and then completed reviews. You are not a jerk at all, nobody should have a go at you for being honest! I think you named it 'Sumarian dance'. Kind regards, Dave
I found it, thanks. I see, it was my ratings not my comments. I'll have to be more careful!
Hey Dave! Thank upi so much for that all 5'sreview of "Ikaa" ! A dance /electronica/middle eastern song! Happy you liked it! It's 12 years old and it needs a fresh remix...It did stay for 7 months at No1 on both Dance/electronica and Asia charts on BJ ! So thanks again for your uplifting words and your recognition of it! Cheers!
Hi Tanva, you are welcome! I am new to the site, and have not had a chance to get most of my songs up for review. It is good to hear what everyone else is up to, and yours was a standout track, and deserved the number 1 (and the all 5's!) Good luck for the future! Kind regards Dave
Very sweet of you to say so Dave! All the best with your music and may u only get the best reviews:)!
Hello Dave, Thanks a lot for your review of my song "Through the Trees". I think you were being overly kind, but your effort is much appreciated, cheers!
Mate, I appreciate the efforts that go into writing playing and recording, good luck with it! Dave
Thank you for the great review of 'Throw me in a Hole'. It gave a much needed boost of confidence! I will definately have a listen to your tracks. Cheers, Al (The Trouts)
Thanks for the great review of my song "How It Feels". I'm glad you liked it! Best of luck to you, as well. You've got a great voice!
Thanks Ian, well done on making the top 10! Good luck for the future, you have a very good ear for the electronic/ rap genre. Kindest regards Dave
Thank you so much for your very kind review of my song '27' (its about the Faustian legend of some rock and pop stars dying at the ripe old age of 27, Amy Winehouse being the last). I normally deal out Electro-pop, but felt the urge on the guitar for this one! You are right to point out about falsetto and a change mid-way through, as it is, the song is a bit linear. I had to use a condenser mic on a boss digital recorder for the vox so that felt a bit odd, but needs must! Have checked you guys out, and I have to say you are pretty damn good! My daughter (17), overheard the first few bars of 'Bittersweet' and was an instant fan! Good luck with it lads, you deserve a break. Kind regards Dave Kelly
Man Dave got to listen to your electronic and unique too cool! "A Grimm Piece" would do well in a movie suspense scene. Good to hear we gained a fan! Keep makin music. ASOH
Thanks guys, it has been submitted for a cinematic film, fingers crossed! Have not had time to put my electro songs up, i only have 3 'quickies' up at the moment, but have some song contest finalist tracks to put up that may interest most pallettes. Thanks for listening. hands across the ocean eh? Stayed in Kissimmee a few years back, you live in a fantastic part of the world gents. Its only a matter of time for you. Kind regards Dave
Hey Dave, thanks so much for the great review of my song "The Dance Song". I've gotten a few comments about switching it up and having a better arrangement. Thanks for the time and effort. ~Lil Puf
No problem, have managed to check more of your songs out, and you are definately a force to be reckoned with. Good luck with getting you stuff aired and out there! Kind regards, Dave
Thanks so much Dave! Same to you! Nice melodies in 27. I also like the guitar in that one. I Spy really shows your diversity, I like it. And A Grimm Piece really does sound like something from a movie. Good job and good luck. ~Lil Puf
Hi Dave, and thanks for your interesting & detailed review of "I'm Just a Man". I loved the mention that my voice reminded you of Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys - quite a compliment. I wish I'd had as many hits as they have!!! Regards & Good Luck, John.
Hi John, have had the opportunity to check out some more of your wares, very unique playfulness to your songs and nicely arranged. Good luck and I am sure you can out-do the guys from the pet shop! Kind regards, Dave
Thanks, Dave - you're a cool guy! ;o)
Hi Dave, Welcome to bj! I think you're really going to love all the opportunities possible here. Get involved and help your career flourish! Thanks for your review of "Zen Again". Appreciate your feedback. Dave - CenterPeace
Hi Dave, thank you for my first contact on this vast site. You have some musical back catalogue there, very impressed! I am only just starting to put my wares up, I have lots of electro -pop (discovered by accident that I could transpose my acoustically written songs to various electronic intruments) to put up, and I would love to see how people respond to them outside of the Dave Kelly bubble. Kindest regard, Dave K
