Happy holidays Jim. I was away from Broadjam for quite a while; I recently returned and am catching up on reviews. Thank you so much for your kind review of Too Bad Cue!! I'm very humbled with your words for a man of your experience. I look forward to communicating in 2024 to glean from your wisdom. Stay safe, and the best in life and music in 2024.
Donovan........ your 'six string prayer' song will touch a lot of lives..... timely, hits home to the issue presently..... I enjoyed it very much.... (p.s. thanks for listening to some of my music... and by the way, I finished up the build of my 000 highbred that I started 12 years ago from raw wood, if you lived closer I would enjoy hearing you play it).... 2021 will be a better year for all people in the world.
Thanks for the kind words Jim! Have a great 2021!
I really dig this song, Are you listening to Uncle Sam. really good track. Awesome
glad you enjoyed it.....
Thank you for taking a listen to "Are you listening Uncle Sam".... it's message seems to ring true as much today, as it did back in 2010 when I wrote it...
Ernz.... thank you for your recent review of my FIRST Midi hand coded tune 'Dancing Strings'... written 20 yrs ago.... I have enjoyed listening to your compositions here on Broadjam.... you are very talented.... Welcome to Broadjam. I hope you have tremendous success with your musical journey.... keep me informed on your progress.
Thank you as well Jim.
Thank you for your review of 'licorice Popsicle'.... if you get a chance... come over to my site and read the reason of "why", "how come", "and the tech" about the song. Kinda interesting... Additionally,.... are you open to collaboration? I have listened to a number of your compositions, and they are collectively and creatively unique.... nice blend of instrumentation.
I knew it! I thought that sounded to analog to be digital from the get go. I can hear that kinda sound on all the early 70's shows and it's about time it comes back! Have fun, Billy
Nice song, that Smoke and Mirrors boogie. And I've got a few too many side projects and collabs going on right now, that I would be even more behind to add more! Smile tons, Billy
Thank you for listening.... and reviewing "licorice Popcicle".... Here is the Story Behind the Song..... bored at a recording session and tired from singing words, whistling required less jaw movement... "so let's whistle the tune instead"... then we'll drink some more tea to ease our throats. This recording or ours was used on TV shows in the early 1970's.... so, yes, it was good enough for commercial use then... found it on one of our very old 10" studio reels.... sorry for uploading a poor quality recording but the reel to reel tape was in poor condition. I just thought it would be interesting as a comparison to music of today's current styles for TV.
How very nice of you to tell me the history of your whistle song. I am glad to have heard it. I am going to put it in my playlist. I am really impressed with the whistling - and amused. It's really super. Glad you have had success with it.
Marilyn, thank you for your review of my 'hand coded in midi... quite a challenge to enter each note individually... not played on keyboard' song "Saucy Saxes Live in the Can"... I wish Broadjam reviews allowed 'written notes about the song' to be included for the reviewers to read during their reviews.... it might aid the reviewers to understand the song writing process the composer was going through when creating the song. Maybe I'll suggest this to Roy Elkins... if other were to suggest it to him as well, maybe it might happen. Again, thank you for taking the time to listen and comment, and I hope you have years of success with your music.
Well, you did a great job. Perhaps it is something Mr. Elkins may consider if others as well thought it'd be a good idea. Nonetheless, your song was great! You are very welcome and thank you as well. ~Marilyn
Donovan, the lyrics to my song you reviewed are now posted with the song on my profile.....
Donovan, thank you for your Review of my song "I cried, please let me try". the song reflects some of my family's long time American heritage, which dates back to the late 1600's. Jim
Nice tune Jim , well written!
Wow Jim now THAT's a review and feedback (Radiation Mountain). Thanks so much!! ~Jeff
Jeff.... you are most welcome.... I have always felt that ALL reviews should try and be as complete and HELPFUL as possible.... all musical compositions are an individual's musical journey... each comment, suggestion should be approached as a teacher would in a classroom.... sharing experiences that enhance the learning of the creator of music. Each Creator is at a different experience level than the reviewer.... some more knowledgable, others at a lessor degree.....and the reviewer should always keep that in mind. Good luck on your musical journey...
Hi Jim, Your review of Waterford to Waterlane is one of the most useful and to the point reviews I have received yet. In truth this is a song that I wrote for a good friend of mine's wedding, so that probably explains the lyrics and very minimal production :) I really appreciate the effort and constructive criticism here, thanks so much. All the best, Malcolm
Malcolm..... you are most welcome.... reviews should be helpful in as many ways as possible, I hope to listen to all of the rest of your musical compositions. The best of luck in your musical journey....
Hi Jim Thanks for your very thoughtful and detailed review of my tune. These kind of comments are exactly why I put music up on Broad Jam. Jeff maguire
Jeff.... it was a pleasure to review you music. The world is better off having heard it.... Please continue to share your music with all of us....
Jim - I appreciate your kind words and advice on the Bus to Paradise review, best wishes to you and may God bless!
Randal..... I have enjoyed listening to the rest of your songs....
Jim, thanks for the thorough, fair & thoughtful review.
Brian, it is always worthwhile to make an extra effort when dealing with a well constructed song.
hi Jim, thanks for not only one of the best reviews of I Still Miss Her Kiss, but one of the most thorough reviews i've ever seen here on Bjam, and maybe anywhere else...i agree with you BTW, i sent this out several years ago to one of the well known N-ville shops, and ASKED for just what your saying in the chorus, but not until the third run-through, and i ran outta $$ and time! you are a great reviewer sir, Bjam should hire YOU! thank you again, Warren Hein
Warren.... keep writing, sharing, and giving exposure for your music... the world will be better off for having heard it.... It was a pleasure to share a few comments with you.... looking forward to hearing more of your music.
Hi Jim, Bill has asked to hear my demo. I will let you lnow what happens. Thanks Mike
Good Luck
Mike.... what was the outcome with your discussions with Bill????
Hi Jim, I have sent Bill an email. Thanks Jim for your help. Mike
You are most welcome Jim. I am having my song recorded in Dublin in a few weeks time. I have a producer and a female vocalist lined up. If they make a mess of it, i am looking for a bacharach/Tony Hatch type of production sound if you know anyone able to this. Thanks Mike
my former music business partner and world professional arranger, conductor, musician, William Broughton, could easily do it and you would end up with something very special... but unfortunately, he probably would charge too much.... but he is in Australia.... just google William Broughton Music. If you wanted to, you could e-mail to him and ask what he would charge.... couldn't hurt, and you would have an idea then.
Hi Jim, Bill has asked to hear my song. I will let you know what happens. Thanks Mike
good luck
Thank you Mike for your review of my song "In Loving Memory". If you have a chance, you might want to go back to my site and there you can indeed read the lyrics for the song and read why I did not include a vocal rendition. The song was written for my long time personal friend (Johnny Tillotson), who had a number of hits back in the 1960's. On my site under this song is the description of WHY I wrote the music and lyrics. I appreciate your input for this review and wish you success in your music endeavors.
Mike.... regarding your song and your interest in people who could help you: You wrote to me: "I am having my song recorded in Dublin in a few weeks time. He lives in Australia, but that is not a problem with today's electronic transfers.... just google William Broughton Music. If you wanted to, you could e-mail to him and ask what he would charge.... couldn't hurt, and you would have an idea then. Hope this helps...
Thanks Jim. I will bear him in mind.
Hatts off
Hi Jim, Menopause? Try Permapause! All kidding aside, thanks for the down-right, fabby, inspiring, detailed, insightful and thoroughly complete review of my song, "Intimate Affection". which comes form CD, "Modern Progress". This is a song I wrote and recorded almost 15 years ago on a Tascam 8-track cassette recorder. Produced about 100 songs on that thang. Some of which are in the process of being re-recorded using Logic....quite a process since I am working on 10 NEW songs right now. Anyway, thanks so much for the great review. It is always great when someone truly "gets" a song and can write the "I-get-it-comments-down"!
just took a listen to your song 'Halley'... really has several great hooks, lyrical twists, and tight theme... "a woman who burns through lovers like a Comet streaking through the sky". Write some more musical numbers with the same creativity, unique chord turns, melodic jumps, and rhythmic attacks.... this has great potential.... I hope you will continuously 'shop the song'.... through every avenue.
Hey Bennet, I have uploaded a few diverse tunes... stop by and take a listen if you can
hey Carl, I have some new tunes I have uploaded... please stop by and take a listen... all very different.
Hi again Penny.... yes... that's the problem... trying to find a niche for the song.... also encouraging people to encourage their friends to take a listen.... Anyway, Roy is trying to help out also.... we're all kinda stumped... Got any ideas? Any friends have any ideas?
I think something will happen with it, great production. If I get any ideas I'll let you know.Keep on with it!
Jim "Are You Listening Uncle Sam ?" really has an impact because the music and arrangement is very strong as is the main vocal especially with the supportive and beautiful back ups.I would think that this song could be very successful in several different arenas. Very tight performance with lots of feeling, it should be heard!
Hi Penny, thanks for giving an input on the song... it was not meant to represent any particular slant.... just reflect the actual quotes of the feelings of people I over heard while at restaurants, stores, pumping gas, waiting in various lines. Politically I am for anyone that is for the American Dream.
Jim you did an amazing job at expressing the hopes and dreams for a better America!I salute you for that. Part of what song writers actually do I feel is to help voice feelings that sometimes are not easily articulated by others. This is a very strong and melodically beautiful song that expresses where we all hope to progress towards.Again, great work!
Hi Jim, Although we may be voting for different candidates your song certainly expresses very well the frustrations of the American people.A lot of problems were inherited last time around and my feeling is there needs to be more time to change some of this.So though we may not be exactly on the same page politically your song is very powerful and has great arrangement , delivery ,vocals and positive intent, so well done!!!
Hey Penny, it's been a while, but I just uploaded our latest song... "Are You Listening Uncle Sam?".... would you mind taking a listen and sharing your thoughts? Would appreciate your input..... thanks, Jim
