Hi Eric great work on road to glory. What orchestra Samples do you use? I'm looking for some advice on what to buy. Thanks.
Hi Adam! I have been using Cinematic Strings 2.0 BUT I completely advise looking into 8DIO's Adagietto. It is the best string library I have heard thus far for such an attractive price. There are other nice libraries like LASS and Symphobia but they are heavily expensive. LASS does have a LITE version that is the same price as Cinematic Strings and Adagietto. It does depend on your style though. Adagietto is perfect for cinematic cues while LASS may be good for more John William style--more symphonic/classical. What I love about Adagietto is that you can have your strings have mutes on them. I haven't seen that anywhere else. Then finally Symphobia, it is a hefty library on cost but if you can afford it, that would be the best option probably. It has a great tone and string effects. I threw out many libraries at you but look at Adagietto and LASS LITE and see what fits your style. If you want to, you can check out what I use, Cinematic Strings, but I don't heavily advise it. It uses lots of RAM and takes awhile to load the samples. Like Hollywood Strings. If you've thought about getting that library...don't. I'm a huge fan of Thomas Bergersen but that library has many issues. I hope this helped and thank you for your comment! Best of luck composing!
YOU'RE a wonderful diverse compoer from Classical to Metal, from a jazz/classical writer. I listened to your fist 12 songs - all top motch!
Wow! Thank you very much for the uplifting comment! Such an encouragement :)
you derserve it!!!!
Congratulations winning the Steinberg competition!
Thanks for then endorsement!
Love your music! Sounds epic!
Thank you very much sir!
Eric, Curious what gear you use? Thanks David
Hey David, Are you meaning the virtual instruments that I use? Eric
Yes, are you a Pro Tools guy? What virtual instruments do you use? I am just getting into Pro Tools and find some of the canned virtual instruments a little weak. I need some strings, and better piano sounds. Thank you
I am actually a Logic guy! It's a fantastic program. The virtual instruments I use are Cinematic Strings for all strings, True Strike and Orchestral Brass Classic from ProjectSam I have Komplete Ultimate 9. For strings, I do recommend what I have but also depends on your style. Cinematic Strings is versitile for different styles but it does lean more to its name 'Cinematic'. Symphobia is a great library. EastWest libraries are okay but I don't highly recommend them if you can spend the extra couple hundred bucks. But they do sound pretty good for the price. Hollywood strings is an odd ball compared to other libraries. It sounds great but the structure of it compared to its price range libraries isn't as good. So depending on what player you're using (Komtakt or EastWest's player for example, or both) or your preferred one may determine which library you'd want to use. Hollywood Strings and EastWest use their EastWest player which I hear is not so good. The rest use Kontakt. Another library that comes to mind is LASS. I hear it's a great library. Listening to your music, this might be a good choice. I'd suggest staying away from Vienna. The reason I spilled all those suggestions is so that hopefully this provides for you opportunity to look through different libraries and find what sound suits your taste. For pianos, I use Alicia Keys which comes in the Komplete Ultimate bundle. It's a fantastic library and has such versatility between different sounds, styles, moods and genres. Highly recommend it for sure! I used that library in my song Farewell, Dear Friend if you want to hear it in action. I hope this comment has helped! Happy composing!
When I put Komtact I meant Kontact
Eric, Really nice work on Glory, David
Thank you, David!
Thank you for the rating on my song Road to Victory!
Congrats for being selected!
Hey Simon! I am unsure of which opportunity you are referring to. Though thank you anyway! :)
It's Opportunity FT13AF05 - do you also get selected elsewhere? O.o nice!
Oh! Haha. My confusion was that right after an opportunity ended and the decision was made, you commented. So I assumed it was about that opportunity but I wasn't selected for that one. But now I understand which one you are referring to. Thank you very much! :)
Hi there, Eric! Many thanks for the kind & thoughtful review of Savannah. Good point about the panning - will def take it into consideration. Atb Katy
Thank you so much for the rating, Roy!
Eric, You are welcome. Thanks for the great music! Best of luck, Roy
Hi Eric -many thanks for your kind review of Driftwood. You're right about the levels of vocals and guitar. Still new to home recording and just recording all in one take onto garageband. Will have to work out some better system .
Great job on doing that in one take in Garageband! Recording acoustic guitars are so difficult.. I understand your predicament. But possibly a compressor on the guitar with a tiny bit of reverb and then just a tad lower on the vocal level and it should sound pretty balanced. Again, great job.
Just listened to Hope Amongst the ashes -wow ! nice one
Thank you!
Hey, just wanted to tell you: Your works are inspiring - keep it up! =)
Whoa! Thank you! :) I'm glad it is having that kind of effect.
