Dear Lonnie, I just reviewed one of your tunes, "If I Had My Way", I have heard your voice before and kind of guessed this was you, recognized your vocals. Gave your song 5 Stars & Likes, very cool tune Sir!!! Would love to have you hear some of our compositions and get your feed-back, also would love to connect with you, you are a terrific songwriter! Happy Trails.... Margie & Art Corey/BMI Songwriters
Lonnie I see you got 3 of my songs for review, sorry it has taken me so long to bet back to you. 1st welcome to the BJ family I have been here a number of years and it is a great community. The songs you revised were "All I Have to do is Dream" and all time favorite from my teen years...Now the Day is Over"is a sailors hymn first sang in church...so the 8 bells..Will check on "Ghost Riders" not totally mastered yet...will be before placed on a cd...thanks for the advice...Good luck with your music on BJ...a friend in music.
I must say you have been busy reviewing a fair amount of my work..."Erie Canal" and "Hush Little Baby" I grew up near the canal in NY and my chidden walked the toe path in Palmyra NY..."Hush was a lullaby for my granddaughters....glad you liked both and thank you
"it was a hot summer night under Memphis moonlight..is about as descripticve as one can get within the confines of 3:30...lol
Hi Lonnie G. I should have been more detailed in my sentence. I was thinking, smells, description of houses, how people are/were dressed. That's all. You're point is well taken though.
Rich, if i was writing a Dylan-esque "Tangled Up In Blue" i'd have the time to develop a plethora of narrative...but as Hall & Oates once said: "don't bore us, get to the chorus"...lol
thanks for the fine review of "Winds Of Change"..had to laugh when you mentioned the vocals should be sung with less gravelly voice...it's just that I don't contrive my vocals..it's how my vocals are...agree with the "hotness"..doing a remix.
hot summer night under Memphis moonlight is about all the description any song needs to set the tone...just saying..one only has 3:30 to tell the tale.
David thak you for you thoughtful review of my tune "Winds Of Change"...greatly appreciated....excellent ideas..
Lonnie. thank you for reviewing Hana II!
Hey Lonnie, so glad you liked my tune All of the Above. Thanks for the kind words. Good Luck to you with your music! Nigel.
thanks so much for your review, Lonnie, of Satan's Witch's Brew (DJ Z-80 Remix). Best, Jay
thanks for the review of Drunken In The Road..i will take it to heart and work it out...good ideas.
Thanks Jeff for the review of my tune Saxerly. I appreciate the advice and you're probably right about the category which I will change.
5-Star, Bob. Beautiful...pedal steel killls it...makes one weep. Mandolin adds such a sweetness....right on, my friend.....bob..check this idea...after i just don't want to leave you yet...in the next space sing "Im in love with you tonight"..no last verse..and go out from there with the pedal steel soloing and fade it.........if you can cut and paste to check this out...cool...just a production idea
Glad you like it Lonnie. Thanks also for your thoughts on further development of the song but I think I'm quite happy with it now. I remain always open to suggestions though on any of my projects, so thanks for your input.
my pleasure Bob...hope you don't take my thoughts asa overly critical...merely putting on my producer hat...
Not at all Lonnie. I say it very often, I actually welcome ideas and comments if they're given in the right spirit, and these certainly have been. I won't always go along with them but I'm always grateful. Thanks again.
Hey Lonnie thank you for the review of our song Skeletons!
Wow, 2nd one today:-). Thanks Lonnie G, for your outstanding review of RM 03. Wisdom of Youth done in collaboration with Grammy nominated Rick Chudacoff of Nashville on our album from several years ago called "Rock Modernoff & the Jetstream Cowboys". Very much appreciated. Jay
i seem to know when it's one of yours and i do these reviews with my seriopus hat on...i don't give out powerful reviews just to get a better deal on opportunities here.....i am a serious guy..and take it seriously so, believe me when i say it is well deserved.
Thanks so much, Lonnie, for your very positive review of my song A Different Kind of Sleep, I did in collaboration with Ron Potter (aka Stuck With Green) and Nathaniel Jones (aka Protilius), both of whom are also fellow broadjam members. The three of us have done tons of collaborations. Incidentally, Lonnie, this is Jay Carney, also owner of Starburst Records. Best wishes.
Hey Jay, some seriously good material form Evan Z...
I must be the only BJammer up for review Lonnie!! Many thanks for yet another very fair and encouraging review. I'm In Love Tonight is another older song, I've had lots of different attempts to find the right style, that's about the slowest. Fair comment about the solo, might just have a play with the pedal steel (straight off my Yamaha Genos keyboard) how I wish I could play a real one/owned one! thanks again. Bob
Hi, Your comment re the instrumental shook me into action Lonnie and I have just finished reworking the song. It is now shorter in intro and outro and has a new instrumental break with pedal steel and mandolin voices. See what you think. https://www.broadjam.com/songs/bobb entley1/im-in-love-tonight?pg=2 Thanks again, Bob
thanks Lonnie for you great review of Sledgehammer ft Cali Tucker, who is the niece of American Country singer Tanya Tucker. Much appreciated.
well, the apple dsoesn't fall far from the tree.
hey Barry, what i do is begin a baseline of 3's for every artist i review realizing that to be "average"..i adjust the parameters as i listen...in the instrumental case i was just moving to the comment section and didn't put in the N/A's....oversight.
i realize it should have been 32/35...i 'm getting to know you're stuff...believe me, it won't happen againLOL
Wow, Its so weird out of thousands of people how you keep end up reviewing my music, Broadjam really needs to fix their algorithms, So you gave an instrumental 3/5 for lyrics and vocal pitch, Excuse my my French but what the F0- are you doing dude< You know there's a NA/ box not applicable. that's what its for!.
really?...i usually check those 1st!! lol...try not to get thy knickers in a knot...
Kate, I certainly know Barry McGuire....Eve Of Desrtruction..As the Who so succinctly said "talknig 'bout my generation.!!"
Hey Lonnie, thanks for the review of Delete. There's a fun you tube of it: https://youtu.be/W8ircVaQjPI Mrs. Kate
Thanks so much Lonnie for taking the time to provide a lukewarm, mediocre review of Save The World. best, Jay
you got it...just couldn't get motivatted...it happens...no ddiss intended
i did get the Tull vibe from this...i think i did mention the verosity was difficult to follow....if the words matched the meter of the music it would, i think, lift the song as far as flow...the intrumentation is powerful, as i said...vy eliminating words like when, with, to...all of which are "understoods"..it would be better for the vocals to not sound rushed...the "epic" quality of this song invites a more poetic delivery..imho, of course.
thnaks, btw, for your reviews....they are always very thoughtful and appreciated...you seems to have a lot of artists with varying genres...that's cool.
its all good, Lonnie. Love your work. Its always a pleasure when one of your songs comes up for review. Your voice is unmistakable and GREAT! BTW, i'm a totally in awe fan of Diana Krall and it sounds like she might very well be a near neighbor of yours. I've attended many of her concerts, but when i attended her opening act at the Newport Jazz Festival about 12-15 years ago and she sang her cover version of "Case of You", they almost had to carry me out on a stretcher because i was sobbing so much. My favorite music to listen to is astonishing covers, like this one. Love you, Lonnie. All my best, jay
sweetness...Diana is awesome...not a bad mix to be with Elvis C.....i dig your site...and the myriad of material to check out..
Lonnie, thank you for your review of Amends. Its a tune I intend to take into the studio within the next couple of months. Marc
Thanks, Lonnie, for taking the time to review Satan's Witch's Brew ft Cali Tucker, a song sung by the niece of Tanya Tucker. Best wishes, Jay
Thanks yet again Lonnie, great review of It's Over Now. Much appreciated. Bob
no problemo, Bob...sometimes a song is JUST RIGHT!
Thank you.
Thank you so much for the nice review of our song In The City. Your suggestion is really a good one. I think I'll experiment with that. We really loved your song Sugar Sugar Mama. Great stuff. That's a keeper for sure! Thanks again so much for your support, Rusty and Spark (Signal 30)
Thanks for the great review Lonnie!
Thanks so much, Lonnie, for your great review of my song RM 12. Time Is Not For Free. Very much appreciated!
Thanks for your review of Paxico Ramble , I actually have a vocal version of it, Its called Worried Mind. Thats the second instrumental of mine your trying to put vocals on, I think its best to just accept instrumental music as such, This version without vocals works for many commercial opps that don't want vocals, so you have to judge things for what they are and not what they might be if they were something else? Kinda like people.....
true, my suggestion was "as a commercial song" vocals would be necessary...but, for instrumental use...you are correct.
btw, there is no hard rule here...why not have both? that opens up the greatest possible world of opportunities.
Thanks for the review Lonnie! Mrs kate
you are a pleasure, Kate...i dig your humour.
Lonnie, thank you for the review of my song, Forgive Myself. I appreciate your honesty.
