You're still a hard man :) Thanks for the feedback on 'I Am Always'. That track was written and posted over 10 years ago; before you did your great sax work on 'Water'. It's on my to-do list to go back and redo that track. If you can slot me in between your Grammy dinners and marathons, I'd love to have you drop a live sax on it; it would be an honour pal. Glad to see you're still as sharp a knife. Love to the family.
Tough review of my track 'I Am - Always' - love you to bits mate. I was on that project you offered to play live sax for me, and I am forever grateful pal. Keep well.
Wow Paul - getting back into music again myself and listening to lots of stuff on BJ. Loving your stuff. Good to know you continue to collaborate with others musicians. Loving The Menace!!!!
Nice work on the horn, Paul... well done!
Hello Paul. Thank you for the favorable review on flow power flow. Mrs Kate
Hi Paul, Thanks for the 5's for "Papa Don't Mind"! Bill
G.L. I just had to say I love your music!!! I could listen to you all day!!!
Paul, you're very kind. As you already know, it's always a work in progress. Pray all your endeavors lead you to great success!
Paul, "Going Back To Where I've Never Been" Indeed! ... Great Sound ... Best Wishes For Wherever Life & The Music May Lead You ... J Nelson K
Thanks so much. I wish the best for you too!!!!
5 for 5 in the 2016 Songdoor Songwriting Contest. Four songs in Soft Rock; "Caramel and Cream" honorable mention and was seriously considered for the finals, "Chainsaw Weather" received special recognition and honorable mention, "Touch Down" and Papa Don't Mind" received honorable mentions. "Money Can't" received special recognition and honorable mention. Bill
"Money Can't" was in the instrumental category, kinda surprised as it's an older Jazz composition.. Bill
Nice!!!
That's awesome!!!
Way to go Bill!
Great news, Bill!!:)
Thanks all, guess I'll keep at it for awhile...... Bill
Paul, Love the picture with the dog. My Akita would come over and lay on my left foot when I'd play acoustic guitar. Oddly enough, he'd leave the room when I played rock 'n roll piano...but return when I was playing classical or jazz..... Chet
That's so funny. A jazz lover for sure. My photo is my best friend Joey!! Great studio dog.
If you have time, send me an email at pschwepker@gmail.com.
Just now saw this.....I just sent an email. Better late than never, LOL.

Steven, Thank you so much for the awesome review of "Going Back to Where I've Never Been". I certainly appreciate the time you took listening. As for your songs, I have listened to all you have here on Broadjam and there is not one song I dislike. You are a great composer, arranger, and musician. I love your style. If you ever want to collaborate let me know.
thank you very much for the wonderful review of green carnations, appreciate it .
Stefo, I just now saw these comments. Green Carnations is a beautiful song!!!
Steven, thank you so much for your review of Omni Play. As for your question of where this was recorded, I recorded the midi and saxes at my home studio and recorded the drums and percussion at Studio Center Miami. It was mixed by co produced, mixed and mastered by Gary Vandy at Studio Center.
Hi Kate, Thank you for the review on "Going Back to Where I've Never Been"!! Awesome scores and comments. As for your question about the drums, everything except for the horns were synthesized or MIDI programed.
Always fun to try and figure thst out. With the amazing samples available today it's getting tiugher to discern.
I do try to manipulate every aspect of the midi files (volume, attack of the individual notes, start and start time of each note, and even alter the pitch of non fretted instruments) to try to make them sound real.
Thank you Dennis for the review and nice works of "Going Back to Where I've Never Been".
Paul...............first I want to say I like the photo of the Dog on your Broad Jam website!!! GREAT SHOT! You're looking pretty Cool Too!!! Listening to "Sailing the Caribbean" another excellent Jazz tune!!! 5 Stars M & A Corey"
Thanks so much Margie and Art. You are awesome!!!
Dear Paul, if you get a chance, have a listen to our song, "A Lonely Place To Be"....it's a Sax Song......... M & ACorey
Paul.............Listening to "Enchantment".....more great Deck Music to soothe the musical soul!! 5 Stars.......... M & A Corey
Thanks for the kind words. Enchantment will be on my upcoming cd. I should take this version down because I added some great musicians to this song and also my producer/engineer Gary Vandy will add his magic when he mixes the song. It will sound so much better.
Paul...........Listening to, "Going Back to Where I've Never been"..... So nice & mellow....This sounds like deck music!! Some fine Merlot & cheese and this playing...WOWZA!! Great Job!! 5 Stars Margie & Art Corey..... Peace Out!!!
It's me again, LOL. I do love sitting on my deck with some fine merlot!!!!
Dear Paul, I don't about you, but a fine bottle of Merlot should never be wasted on huge crowds or family functions....Hee Hee!! Just kidding, I always indulge with the little woman and close enemies.......... M & A Corey
Paul...You just reviewed our tune, "Rainbows Then Sunny Skies"...Thanks for the wonderful review and all your suggestions.........will go back and make the changes you mentioned!! M & A Corey The Sax player on our tracks is Mr. Jerry Peterson, he plays on all songs that call for a Saxophone!!
The song was great. With a little tweaking in the mix it would be totally awesome. Thanks for the info on Jerry Peterson. Great sax man!!
Paul......you related in any way to the Messina in Loggins & Messina??
I wish I were related, LOL but nope. They were one of my favorite groups in the 70's. Thank you for the information concerning Jerry Peterson. He sounds like a great player!!
I wish I were related. They were my favorite group in the 70's. Cheers for your sax player Jerry Peterson. Sounds like a great player.
Paul............if you ever need a Sax Player..... Ooooppps NEVER MIND!!! LOL!!!
BTW Paul..if you ever fancy swapping some of your Sax skills in return for vocals/Bass/Guitar/Keys etc...let me know (even Banjo at a push)
Im always game, LOL.
Thanks for the review of 'Daisy' Paul..nice one! My apologies, it was the demo, I didn't realize I hadn't put the final version up!
Thanks Paul!!! Brenda
I knew it was you from the first note, LOL. You definitely have your own style.
Hey Earl, thanks for the review of Omni Play. I appreciate the kind words and score, except I'm sorry you didn't like the Tuvan Throat singing.
Was the throat singing really that bad that they deserved a "1" in the score, or recorded bad, or was that score because you personally didn't like them?
Hi Paul Nice piece... funnily enough I was listening to a lady throat singing a few days back and she was making three sounds (harmonies) at once..remarkable I felt that your piece stood up better without it personally...I must be honest..I thought they were played off a keyboard As for the 1.... I thought I'd ticked the n/a box You have a fine body of work Paul A cut above most of the stuff on here...believe me! Best to you
Thank you Earl, I appreciate your response. Like I said above, I appreciated your comments and the scores, and I was perplexed at the "1". Have a great day, Your response made me feel better, LOL.
I find it amazing the different views on one piece of music. Your terrible review of "Going Back to Where I've Never Been" was not meant to be a cookie cutter song written based on a formula. Perhaps it is in the wrong category but to get that kind of score you gave me is offensive. I only give 1's for the worst songs I review. I have gotten previous reviews of this song with all 5's. This song has also received the Global Musical award for Jazz, and has been nominated for the Hollywood Music in Media Award. I am truly offended by your review. Saying that, thank you for taking the time to at least do the review process.
FYI, I only give 1's for the worst of the worst songs that have no value, are totally amateurish and are recorded so terrible it is hard to listen to. I just wonder what your thought process was.
I just found this response from Eclectic Soul Orchestra: Hello Mr. Messina, I never intended to give such a low score for the piece I heard! I never would have thought that what I rated it as was any lower than 4. I'm new to the site and the rating system. I actually thought very highly of the sax piece as well as the string arrangements, and after hearing the song again through better earphones, I began to realize why its held in such high regard. Please accept my apology for your fine work.
I appreciate his/her response, and wish them good luck with their Broadjam experience.
CaiNo, thank you so much for your awesome review of Omni Play. I appreciate the feed back, as our musical journey is always a learning experience. Thanks again!!!
great stuff!! can't wait to hear some more
Josh, Thanks for the awesome review of "Omni Play". That was much needed and appreciated. I love Thievery Corporation by the way. "Omni Play" was actually written as an experiment when I got my new Synthesizer/sampler Omnisphere. I was trying out new sounds and it just evolved. It was one of those times that I just couldn't stop recording, LOL. Thanks again!!!
