Thanks so much for your review of 'Breaking Free' All comments very fair and taken on board. Have a great day, Terhi x
hi Peter, thanx for your kind review of The Graveyard Shift...your comment on adding light drums is well taken, though on this one, since it is on my upcoming album, for variety i was looking for NO drums...though my producer bugged me about it too....LOL...my other "folky" tunes do have drums, just didn't feel right on this one...but i get it for sure, and thank you for the very kind words and actually reviewing the song! lots of good meat to your words... all the best to you warren hein
Warren. . . you're most welcome. . . It's always an artistic struggle for songwriters to decide on whether or not to produce a song for more commercial appeal. . . Trust your instincts. . . It's a superb song either way.
Hi Robert, Thank you for a very thorough review of "Scent of a Woman." It's rare to have a reviewer who takes the time to listen and analyze a song's structure, melody and most important, lyrics, in order to make helpful recommendations on how to improve the song. You set an excellent example on how a peer review should be done, and how valuable Broadjam's review system can be when done in the right spirit. "Scent of a Woman" is a demo done quickly on my laptop in my bedroom. I wanted input from my peers before deciding whether to make a studio version at a high cost. Thanks Again. - Peter -
You're welcome, Peter. The "demo done quickly" aspect of this, puts it in a little different context. Just my opinion, but I think you have the basis of a good song there. Some clarity in production will help a lot.
Good news! "Anna Maria" hit the Broadjam Top 10 in classic rock.
Thank you Peter for your high mark review of "Half The Day" with Stacey Allison on vocals. Your point is well taken on the arrangement of the hook and chorus. This song is centered around Stacey's singing of the verses and an instrumental bridge; two solos in a two minute song is definately not the norm. This tune is an album piece to introduce Stacey's fine singing. The hook is a subtile "Boy, I love you so", and the chrous is also a subtile "half the day", and "river of wine" answer to her lead vocal as she sings the verse. Most of my songs on my first disc project may be a bit hooky, so I do try to break that trend a few times. Stacey also sings "Never Fell Out" which has the arrangement elements you speak of, and that tune has also been well recieved. Reviews like yours on Broadjam have helped me over the last 8 years to develope, and improve the songs I want to soon release. Still working on the arrangements of a few others, and hope to receive more reviews like yours. Thank you, Scott.
Hey, Scott.....after your review, I reviewed a song that had an excellent example of the type of refrain you could use in your song, Half the Day, sung by Karin Euren from Denmark. I gave her a high rating for the song and how she executed the refrain on the song's fadeout. Here is the song's link: http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=38387&ctnt=sngs&mediaID=364587& I hope that helps you out with Half the Day. It has great potential........Warm regards......Peter Quest
Hello Billy, ..... Thank You for the great review on "I'll Be Coming Home." You are a superb guitar player with the ability to write soul searching lyrics. They both resonate well throughout your songs. Best of luck to your career! - Peter
