Nice work Rye ! Cheers mate
Hi Rye, I enjoyed "Here Comes The Devil"! Good build on it and great performance!
Thanks for the the good words Penny.!! Cheers..
You're welcome, adventure music for sure!
Hey Rye, long time ! How are you, all settled ? Rob
Hey Rob, Chomping at the bit actually. I won't be settled and fully moved till Sept. I'm hanging with the family till then and saying all my goodbye's to friends and such. I've got a partial studio set up but nothing I can really work with. Looking forward to being able to record again.. Ready to explode with some new music for sure. Till then just working on some simple instrumentals.
I really like "Lucky Man" and I especially like "Some men Pray"...!! Really dig your vox on "Some men Pray".. Congrats on the top 10's.. Your like a song writing factory over there.!! Keep em coming.!! Cheers..
Not my vocals on Some Men Pray, a mate of mine called Pete Carroll. Cheers mate !
LOL.. I was wondering how you changed your voice for that particular song. It's a great song!!
Well Rye, you've just raised the bar, just about your best song ! Love it, simple and sparse arrangement. Beautifully put together !! Rob
Are you talking about wrong way down? Ya. I love that song.. Put it together for one of my publishers for a cop drama. Didn't submit it in time though.. Thanks bro. Appreciate the good words as always.
Sorry I haven't gotten a chance to listen to any of your new stuff. I'm in the middle of moving my studio 12 hours south of here to a place called Murells Inlet, South Carolina. One block from the Atlantic and a much better setup for recording. What a pain in the Arss though! Can't wait till I'm done.. I'll have a listen to your new material as soon as I have some down time.. Keep rockin bro..
Yep, Wrong Way Down, great song ! Good luck with the moving, it is a pain in the ass ! lol
great feel on Searching For Answers mate, love the groove on it !
Awesome.. Well done with "If you got the time"!!! You have the piano standing out more as well. That's some great Old timely bar style piano playing.. What kind of vocal mic are you using?
a Behringer B2, it's cheap but not too bad
still not happy with the song though, I've re-done it again and again ! lol
Rob, Perfection is reserved for God, son. You are Art because you are flawed, which makes you priceless. Glad you are going gangbusters on pumping out new tunes. There is only one you! - N
That's it, my final mix of If You Got The Time !! (for now) lol
Hope the newer version of True Love sounds a little better Cheers mate Rob
Yes.. Big difference! Much more warm and rich! What did you do different? Did you redo "If you've got the time"?
I re-recorded and tweeked the vocals and brought up the acoustic in the bridge ! So clever lol
I've re-recorded everything on If You Got The Time except for the bass and the harmonies, gotta get a mate to help with the Barbershop Quartet part. It's a holiday weekend here and he's gone away til Tuesday so I'll have to wait til he gets back
Doing one harmony is a piece of cake, doing two is also pretty easy, but three and four ? Sheesh I tried for days to get it right and I still can't get it like I want it.
I've always liked the chords to it Em C G B7 then C D G Em then the bridge, E Am D7 G etc really brings it up a notch, coming from the Em to the E.
Looking forward to hearing it.. Yes. I always like the climb from minor to major. Much more so than a straight 1/2 step a key. I'm pretty dumb with music theory. Played for 5 years in a large big stage church! I had no choice but to learn a little just to hang with all the Music Majors. Thankfully I'm so good at improv. with my ear I found a way to hang. Still got allot to learn though.
yeh, it never stops. I've got mates who are unbelievable musicians but can't write a song to save their lives. I'd rather be a very ordinary muso but be able to write at least something lol
"Never See Me Cry" Beautiful song.. I thought the pictures matched the mood of the song perfect. Your certainly a gifted songwriter my friend. Ya I'm not perfect at mixing/mastering either. I have a couple of friends I have listen to all my tracks on there system and they feed back to me what they think I should adjust. I really only noticed the high sibilance on "True Love"! All others sound great to me!! Have a great day.
Thanks for that, I've re-loaded True Love after re-doing it. I've re-recorded If You Got The Time and actually had a go at your suggestions re the vocals. A little mellower, if that's the phrase !
You guys are so much ahead of me production wise. I'm hopeless at it, I basically just use the pre-sets on my recorder (Yamaha AW16G) it's 10 years old now !
Well bro. I would exchange my production abilities for your song writing and vocal skills any day. The AW16G is a really nice unit. Long lasting a dependable. Check out recordingreview.com. Lots of good info and tips I've learned from them.
It usually takes broadjam 24hrs to upload a re-loaded song. I'll have a listen to them tomorrow.!!
THanks for that, I'll have a look, believe it or not, I coach pole vaulting, so time is a pain from time to time lol. But I'll definately have a look at that website and hopefully get some more tips. You've been great, I really appreciate your time.
This effort (If You Got The Time) is without the new harmonies, but it's not too bad. See what you think mate.
I'm digging the Doo Wop! That's a great song.! I'm still liking "If You Got The Time" as my fav. Mastering/Mixing tip.. Check your eq on vox or Master around the 1K to 6K range. If you turn that down you'll be able to turn up and get more the depth in your voice on the track.. Cheers...!
thanks, as far as "mastering" goes, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to re-do If You Got The Time, Em C G B7. Going to get help doing the harmonies in the "See me, at the station" . . bits as I wanted a Barbershop Quartet thing happening.
Oh yeh, have you seen my video clip for that song Never See Me Cry yet ? Steven Speilberg I ain't ! lol Thanks again for your feedback mate, much appreciated.
Loved it from the first chord Rye, one of your best !
Thanks Rob.. Much appreciated!! Cheers... I'm at the end of my night here...!!
well get to bed young man ! lol. It's only 1.30pm Friday down here.
Top Ten, great stuff Rye !
Dig the new songs.. To Licensing success! Cheers.....
Thanks mate, yeh . . . "broke, need money !" lol
Hey Rye, I've added a video, check it out. Not a bad song, not such a good clip lol
Rye, You humble me, brother. Most of my BJ pals (including you) are way better than I am, but luckily some of them help me shine by collaboration. I am more of a creator than a producer. Beautiful guitar work on Never Let Go! And as always, great song. Keep em coming! - Nick
Rob.. Thanks for the connection request! I really like your song "Soft White Jumper". If your new the the Licensing bizz and really want to get a grasp on how it works I would suggest checking out howtolicenseyourmusic.com. I started with Broadjam and became more interested how to gain more representation and avenues for licensing. Broadjam is great but I suggest really pushing to publishers and music libraries. You will learn all you need. Good Luck and dont' hesitate to ask any questions.. Peace.... RYE
Thanks mate, appreciated, Rob
Mr. Rye, ifen you don't need your whiskey bottle no more, send it down my way! Times is sure enough strange. I be thinkin about joining the Amry so's I can at least get a drink onst in awhile and maybe get laid. Done writ a song about it, but the Sheriff, he's none too pleased. Having a few techno difficulties, but just liken my willy, will try to get it up for the enjoyment of others. Righteous Tune, bro! - Fever
Well much obliged for your good words and adding to your playlist. Sad but she dumped me and I'm back on the sauce. LOl.. The last 13 seconds are cut off for some reason. Trying to work that out with broadjam. Hopefully they my re-upload will go through sooner than later... Look forward to hearing your new one.
Just loaded em. One Country (George Strait Cajun style) and two I don't know what to call em. We kinda got into a weird vibe up to Atlanta. Guess we was missin home and tryin to get laid by Big City girls, which ain't none too easy bein a Florida Cajun Cracker!
Just listened to your library. My fav is "The Dust Of Migration".. Cheers..!!!
Thanks very much Rye for listening and commenting. Funnily that was a composition that probably took less than an hour from start to finish, but I quite like it too. best regards Tony
I'm glad you like my song "Wrong Way Down" Dead-Eye Dicks. Thanks for checking it out. I'm loving "RYE Whiskey" and not just because my artist name is in the title. Well delivered. Cheers. Peace, Love, Music... RYE
Hey Rye, thanks for the connection request. You have great material, I especially like Change the World. All the best, Chris
Hey Mr. Rye! You sounds Cool! We done Rye Whiskey, an old timey song. Eric says you be alive to drink Rye Wiskey! - Fever
I like the old timely. I'll have some more of that fine Rye Whiskey. Good times!
Rye, Wrong Way Down is my theme song! I think about why I survived 9/11, but I still can't figure it out. Then they make me Top 10 Folk-Religious. So I guess it got pointed out to me. Sending you a Friend request so you can join me at the Top! - Nick
Thanks Nick.. Good words my man. I'm still trying to figure out how I survived a 10 year drug addiction myself.. God is always there to lead you on the right path..
Thanks for the good words from all the way out there in Sunny Cal.
Thank you for your review. Agree totally on the Genre. I entered it in wrong and never changed it. Sorry bout that!! It was written specifically for a scene in a screenplay. Good marks on the recording quality, instrumentation and vocal pitch are what I like. Peace, Love, Music RYE
Hi there, Thanks for your review of "We are Watching You". I appreciate the time that you took listening & the feedback. Keep on Rockin'! Dave
Hi! Thanks for your review of "Blame." You are correct that there is hiss in the vocals, but not because of compression -- I record in my living room on my laptop so between the furnace and the laptop fan and the overall space, there is always hiss. If you have a suggestion for ways to EQ out hiss, I'd try it. I have Garageband which has a lot of settings but I don't know how to use 'em. Thanks -- good luck with your music and enjoy Broadjam. It's a fun community! Best, Carrie
Trying to eq out hiss is tough because you loose the tone of the vocal. Hiss is usually somewhere around the 2K to 10k range. Try using a parametric eq with a small bandwith. Boost the eq and run it back and forth around the 2k to 10K range. When the hiss stands out drop the eq to negative and that spot and listen to the change. Its a balancing act. You can try a noise reduction plug-in buy you are talking about a bit of a learning curve and I find the better plugins tend to run up in cost. My best advise is to try to turn as much off as you can and record as close proximity to the mic as possible using a pop screen. Going the extra mile for vocals is worth it for your voice. Peace, Love, Music RYE
