Craig Heesch
Born in Minnesota, Craig was a science major in college with expertise in music and golf. Singing along with the sounds of such greats as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, and Tony Bennett since early childhood he developed a love for the American classics.
Jimmy Sheldon at Overland Records was impressed by Craig's velvet vocal style and signed him to a three year contract under the name of Craig Adams.
As an Overland artist, he wrote and recorded original songs that were featured in a Hollywood film "Single Room, Furnished", starring Jayne Mansfield. He teamed up with Dick Dale and his Del-Tones, and Francine York. They released "Dream Girl Waltz" which was distributed internationally by the USO.
Taking a break from his pursuit as a vocalist, Craig designed important patents for aircraft inertial guidance systems, launching his first company and a successful technical career in research & development.
When legendary Mel Torme lamented that when he and Sinatra were gone there would be no more crooners in the wings.
He encouraged Craig to record the music from The Great American Standards.
Craig signed with American Jazz Records ("Americana Records").
With the assistance of co-producer, Jim Pike, originator of the famed trio "The Lettermen" and later "Reunion", Craig produced a new album apply named, "From Out of the Wings", singing the great American standards.
His album was a contender for 4 different Grammy Nominations.
Jim Pike, founder and lead singer of "The Lettermen", recipient of nine gold albums and five Grammy award nominations, said of Craig:
"Take the sensitivity and phrasing of a lyric, the tone quality and intonation of all the great crooners of the past and that is Craig! Seldom does a voice like his come along."
Craig opened performances for the former "Lettermen" ("Reunion"), and performed nationally, including a performance at New York's famous Lincoln Center.
He was selected as a special guest artist to perform with famed Seoul Pops Orchestra at their Tenth Annual Celebration held in the elegant Seoul Arts Center in South Korea.
Craig is also a member of the American Recording Academy.
