Daniel has been playing music in the Twin Cities since 2007 as a member of several Minneapolis groups including Emot, Jason Roberts, and Junkyard Empire. In between his obligations to other groups, Daniel has used his multi-instrumental skills to self produce a collection of his own songs, recorded in the intimacy of his studio apartment. Playing all the instruments, Daniel crafted his debut record based around the DIY ethic, using only one cheap condenser microphone.
Daniel combines the straightforward narrative songwriting of John Prine and Jerry Jeff Walker with an awkward bluntness of younger songwriters such as Ben Gibbard and Blake Schwarzenbach. In tracks such as "Standing By You Staring at the Ocean" and "Fool For You" his offbeat phrasing and bumbling emotions are reborn as forthright expressions of a man discovering both self-assurance and joy.
