Bio
The Foley McKenna Band is Singer/Songwriter Ed McKenna along with Bob Nage on acoustic guitar, Phil Seshens on drums, and Mike Joy on bass. The Bands founder, Ed, hails from a military family stationed all over the country, and the world for that matter. The rest of the band is from the area surrounding Haddon Heights, NJ, their home base. At the age of 12 he bought his first guitar at his next door neighbors yard sale. He started to get serious with the guitar at age 13 and started to write his own music at 14. Bored with hearing his lonesome guitar he joined that talent with singing and joined his first band. Ed 'Foley' McKenna played his first show in Scranton Pennsylvania at the age of 15. He performed in that area for 6 months honing his craft. He then spent some time following the Gratefull Dead, all the while writing songs and performing on street corners in various cities for loose change. His music in its current incarnation with the street corners, college parties, and loud bedrooms behind him settled into a style, which in his vision is a mosiac of his life. Ed has spent most of his time writing, recording and performing his original music in and around Philadelphia, Washington DC, Delaware, and New York. Performing is where one will find this band at it's best. This blend of Folk and rock has been described as Steely Dan meets Ben Harper. Their music is a combination of flavors ranging from folk to groove to rock. Their music relates to listeners of many ages.
