ANNELIESE MEYWES
At the age of 10 Anneliese went to KICK Performing Arts School in North Sydney (patron Julie Anthony) and she won the Summer School Talent Quest.
At the young age of 13 she was achieving places in eisteddfods, and placing in adult sections with her brother.
Anneliese composes her own songs, plays piano, guitar and adds various percussion instruments to her singing and recording. She has such a talent for writing music and words and believes that it is totally God-inspired.
Anneliese has now composed over 15 songs and at the age of thirteen decided that the best way for her to touch people?s lives was to start recording and producing music that inspire people. With a wide range of musical styles she writes from classical to rap appealing to all age groups.
She achieved the top 50 in Australia of John Laws Rising Star competition (she and Jake were the only children to achieve this). Local radio stations are now playing her songs.
Her latest achievement was their singing tour which was to New Zealand where she sang many of her originals. Their first album which features three of these songs was a sellout.
Anneliese's other passions include kayaking.(In 2005 and 2006 she has competed at state and national level in K1 and K2 kayaks and participates in ocean paddling races.) She also enjoys dancing, tennis, swimming and basketball.
JAKE MEYWES
Jake stared singing at the very young age of three. Throughout his primary school years he was lead roles in musicals, and competitions which gave him the confidence to start performing. He also went to Kick Performing Arts and won the Junior Talent Quest ( at six years old) and achieved the same as Anneliese with free singing tuition for the next year. He was not impressed that he had to do ballet though!
He was selected for Gondwana Voices in October 2004 He then was given a role with Opera Queensland in ?La Boheme? May 2005 at only 10 years of age.
Jake participated in both the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Gold Coast Eisteddfods.In 2004 he won the Musical Comedy section and the Boys Vocal Solo and received Highly commended in the contemporary section. In 2005 he won the contemporary section, came 2nd with Anneliese in the u/20 duets singing ?Phantom of the Opera? . Also in 2006 he won every section he participated in hence he was awarded the Most Promising Young Male Vocalist award.
He won the Queensland Junior Australian Idol out of 2,600 entrants and made it through to the top 10 in Australia where he appeared in the finals which was televised with the three Australian Idol judges presiding, who each gave Jake rave reviews and encouraged him to sing like Bocelli. His third TV appearance at 12 years old was on Friday Night Games as a singer to compete against the celebrities on the show.
Jake has recently played the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast on the Gold Coast.
He will also be in the "Mikado" next year playing the part of Grand Poobah.
Jake has represented Queensland at the Nationals and at state level in Flatwater Kayaking winning one 1st and three 3rds at the Australian championships.
Jake other hobbies include basketball, tennis, swimming, running and surf racing.
