His latest recording, The Power of Two, shows expansion in many ways. He is joined by his regulars: stalwarts Rusty Jones, drums and Steven Hashimoto, bass along with young lion Neal Alger on guitar. Together they explore a wide musical range including mainstream jazz, fusion, funk and swing during a 67-minute voyage. John's direct, organized, yet expressive solos are a delight, as are those of his counterparts. Another highlight is the interaction between the extremely tight rhythm section. There are 12 cuts on this CD. Six are Temmerman's compositions; the remainder include the standards, All Blues and Nice and Easy, along with lesser known tunes recorded by the Crusaders, Tom Scott and the LA Express, and Mark Colby and one, Costa Del Sol, from his son's Playstation game, Final Fantasy VII.
