Singer / songwriter Jon Moore has worn many hats during his years in the music business. His work as a songwriter and performer, studio musician and engineer has helped him evolve into a versatile musician with numerous talents.
Growing up in Fort Lauderdale, Fla, Moore was exposed to a variety of musical influences. By the time he was a young teenager, Moore had mastered both piano and guitar and began creating his own compositions soon thereafter.
The guitar mastery of Jimi Hendrix became Moore's earliest influence. "I started listening to Hendrix and playing along with his licks," he recalls. "Artists like Elton John and Lionel Ritchie gave me an enduring love for pop music and the power of ballads."
Moore enjoyed local success with his band "Violet Ashe." One of their singles, "Wither the Stone," became a regular request on a regional radio station. It remained on the station's playlist for nearly a decade.
During a trip to Nashville for a studio session with his band, Moore was introduced to publisher/producer Alan Cartee, who offered him a job in his own Nashville studio where many hours were spent developing Moore?s raw talent and appeal. "Jon has that special star quality," said Cartee. "When he enters a room, conversation stops and all eyes turn to him."
Working in Nashville with country giants such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash gave Moore even further appreciation for the diversity of music as he worked as a session musician and occasional engineer. He was working behind the scenes when Waylon recorded all the voice-overs for the original Dukes of Hazzard series.
Today, Moore continues to be a prolific songwriter and his versatility is reflected in the diversity of music he composes, from pop to rock to country to gospel.
One of Moore?s compositions, ?Innocence Lost,? has found a large audience with music file sharing site, Broadjam.com, where it has been in the Top 10 for the past several weeks. To hear this song and many others, go to www.broadjam.com/jonmoore.
