J. Stills
J "The Hook" Stills, born and raised in Racine, WI.
J. Stills started his career in Reign's ( www.reignyday.com ) basement in Racine, WI, with partner-in-crime Luminous Fluxx. Soon after, he partnered up with Mark Edwards, co-owner of Stresz Out Records, to release his first solo album Everything My Eyes Can See. Locally a success, Stills moved on to release collaboration albums with Reign and Fluxx (forming rap group FNIC The Finest in the City), Big Oh!, and one more solo album titled Life is Hood.
A solid local rap career, but it eventually lost its luster to a very weary J - who (while running the local rap label and raising a daughter) also graduated college and began a new career in IS. Stills continued recording without any plans to release any new material. In the mean-time, Reign moved to Madison and began Reigny Day Productions. With his newly acquired production and studio engineering skills from Madison Media Institute, he created a network with the music up-and-comers in the Madison area.
Always in love with music, Stills agreed to executive produce Reigny Days new releases 'The Catalog' by Luminous Fluxx and 'The Reigny Day Opus' by Reign. These albums featured many of the Madison music folks in Reigns new network. This gave Stills the opportunity to meet these artists and listen to their music. Very impressed, J decided that maybe it was time to get back in the booth. But this time, focus on what he always did best.
Hooks.
And Madison kept him busy. Working with local artists eventually got the attention of Platinum Madison-based Producer DJ Pain 1 who contacted Stills about lacing Pain 1 beats with hooks to add value (to already very valuable beats). Through Pain 1, Stills has collaborated with Major label artists including Chamillionaire, Bun B, Rich Boy, Juicy J, Torch of Triple Cs, Rebstar, Bee Scott, Ra Diggs, Wes Fif, Five the General, and the list goes on. Stills has performed 100s of shows in the Midwest, and opened for countless major label acts (from Pop singers like Jay Sean and Iyaz, to rap superstars Three 6 Mafia, Asher Roth, and more).
