Her music is a testimonial to the grit and the beauty behind her determination to her dreams. Not only do her songs come from her flowering in a climate of creativity, but from a tenacious, life-long determination to let music be the expression of her spirit.
Maren was given a guitar for her 13th birthday, and the instrument has been her constant companion ever since. She has lived in such varied environments as New York City suburbs, the Arkansas Ozarks and Santa Fe, New Mexico. In the last 9 years, since moving to a small town in Western Colorado, Maren's love of music has brought her onto the stage and into the light of performing and recording her own songs.
Her recently released CD, Out Standing in the Field is a combination of soulful reminiscences, folk-rock rhythms, energetic gospel-infused melodies, and no-nonsense blues. Maren reflects her profound devotion to music and singing in her tunes. Inspiration for her lyrics comes from daily life "Music is a powerful force, and singing on a deep level is cathartic.
