Sometimes the things you are looking for are right in front of you, and you don't even know it. You would think that having brother-in-laws such as producer/engineer extraordinaire Kevin Churko, (Shania Twain, Ozzy Osbourne), and multi-talented Cory Churko (guitarist and fiddle player for Shania Twain and Kelly Clarkson) would guarantee a quick direct entry into the music world. But this was not the case for Michael James.
That day came several years later. While scoping out new talent at the Canadian Country Music Awards in 2005, Kevin happened across a performance video of Michael's that weekend. "His performance completely blew me away", comments Kevin. "I quickly realized the talent I was looking for was right under my nose."
Michael had sang and played in several music groups through the years but really believes now his dream is possible.
With his debut album, "Everything or Nothing", set to be released in spring 2013, Michael is poised to have a big year.
Biography
Sometimes the things you are looking for are right in front of you, and you don't even know it. This has been the case with the music career of Michael James. You would think that having brother-in-laws such as producer/engineer extraordinaire Kevin Churko, (Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Britney Spears), and multi-talented Cory Churko (guitarist and fiddle player for Shania Twain and Kelly Clarkson) would guarantee a quick direct entry into the music world. But this was not the case for the Moose Jaw, SK native, Michael James.
That day came several years later. While scoping out new talent at the Canadian Country Music Awards in 2005, Kevin happened across a performance video of Michael's while staying at his Calgary home during that weekend. What he saw was something he never expected. "His performance completely blew me away", comments Kevin. "I quickly realized the talent I was looking for was right under my nose."
The two started planning and recording songs for James' first album. Full production began with recording a three song demo, featuring a scorching rendition of Blue Rodeo's "Try", as well as two new songs penned by Canada's Patricia Conroy. With Kevin firmly in the producer's seat, brother Cory joined in to add his musicianship to the project as well.
Michael had sang and played in several music groups through the years but the dream of music for a living didn't materialize until now. Having all the pieces of his solo musical career puzzle finally coming together is extremely exciting for Michael James.
"It was a strange ride to get to this point", comments James. "You can't succeed in the music business without great people around you to give you support along the way and I can't believe that I've managed to have a team that was around me the whole time!"
