Born and raised in New York City, Mitch, a self-taught musician, began performing
professionally in 1971 in Ithaca, N.Y., but soon moved on to Chicago where his original
jazz and blues compositions blended with the Latin rhythm section of the "New Earth Rhythm Band".
They were regulars on the home-grown music scene at the Quiet Knight, appearing with the likes of Levon Helm and Jan Hammer. Mitch's original composition was featured on "The Best of Chicago" LP in 1977. Later, joining forces with Long Island guitarist Mike Barnett, they opened shows and jammed with blues legends Muddy Waters, B.B King, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, and Johnny Winter. His next stop was as a member of the legendary "Buster And The Soul Brothers,"
where his harmonica became part of the horn section and he occasionally stepped out front to thrill
audiences from NYC to Montauk with his dynamic vocals. Recently he has played the Long Beach Jazz Fest & the Rock Hill SC blues Fest.

listening to "take me back to N.O." great groove - of course what would I expect from New Orleans dudes! Nice solo! Heard some overblow action in there :-)

I believe that was a different harp player on that record, Al has had a ton of great harp players over the years, including Jason Ricci, Jason actually got me the gig with Al. I do overblow quite a bit on the 4 5 and 6, still learning the 7 overdraw. Anyways, how much for some lessons? and when are you usually available. later at night the better for me.

Which guy is Big Al? Oh and who's playing with him on this vid: Big Al and The Heavyweights - Cajun Roux? My phone nbr is 516 672 4414 what's a good time to chat? Oh, how did you hear about me?

That's an old great harmonica player by the name of harmonic red, Big Al is the drummer. I seen your videos on the twin mini chromatic. I want to learn to play jazz on a modified diatonic, either the slip slider, (which I just ordered) or the mini twin. Are you available to chat anytime from 2-4pm today or after 8:30pm?
