Hi I'm Laura Rook and I'm from Portsmouth (South of England). I have been in the band 'RAWKIS' for six years. I am the lead singer of the band and I write songs both alone and with the band. RAWKIS has a real acoustic, fresh sound. We try and capture a live, raw feel to our recordings. My own personal influences come from various types of music and artists. As a kid I was greatly influenced by Alanis Morisette and Sheryl Crow. Nowadays I listen to all styles of music, but I am particularly drawn to acoustic artists such as KT Tunstall, Adele, Damien Rice, Paolo Nutini, Jack Johnson. I have been performing my songs (alone, as a duo and band) over the last 6 years, mainly in Portsmouth but I have done a few gigs in London too. My music comes from the heart and expresses both the ups and downs of my life. If I had to choose three words to describe RAWKIS I would say its 'Raw, Honest and Pure'. Enjoy listening, thanks.
