Bio
Joel Styzens is a drummer/percussionist, songwriter, guitarist and composer.
He is a graduate of Millikin University where he earned a degree in Music Business and Percussion, specializing in drum set, hand drums and mallet instruments.
For the past 5 years Joel has been a full-time faculty member at Chicago's renowned Old Town School of Music. He currently freelances in the Chicago music circuit where he is involved in several different projects as a musician and composer.
He has composed music for a wide range of projects, including: Check, Please! TV which is featured on NBC-5 Chicago, Chicago band '56 Hope Road' which has been featured on radio stations all across the Country, and 'Relax Your Ears' which features cellist Katinka Kleijn from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and earned Joel "Editor's Pick" from CD Baby and a 5/5 star review.
He also has collaborated and performed with a wide range of musicians including: Grammy-nominated trumpeter Ron Haynes, members of the Blueman group, and Grammy-nominated saxophonist Frank Catalano.
