Richard Alan Cosey has been writing and performing his songs since the age of 13. He may be the best songwriter no one has ever heard of.
He began performing with rock and roll bands in the early 1970's, but soon discovered singer-songwriters such as James Taylor, Tom Waits, Randy Newman, among others. He traded in his Gibson Les Paul for a Gibson Hummingbird and began writing and singing his own songs. In 1975 he met Alan Cook, another aspiring singer-songwriter, and formed the very successful duo "COOK and COSEY." COOK and COSEY went on to open shows for DOLLY PARTON, SEALS and CROFTS, GEORGE CARLIN, and yes even SLIM WHITMAN! It was during these shows that COOK and COSEY garnered the respect of the headliners, as well as their audiences, for always performing their original material instead of tried and true covers. It was a testament to the strength of their original material.
After six years together COOK and COSEY chose to go their separate ways. Alan Cook headed to Nashville and Richard Alan Cosey headed to Southern California. It was in San Diego that Richard Alan Cosey met another musician by the name of Mike (Hollywood) Kunes, and they formed the duo "BING OF AMERICA." For 10 years BING OF AMERICA performed many of Richard Alan Cosey's songs all over Southern California to appreciative audiences.
Today Richard Alan Cosey lives in central Pennsylvania writing, recording, and marketing his songs from his home studio.
