Sharon Ben-Shem
Sharon Ben-Shem, Singer-Songwriter started her music studies at HED College of Music in Tel-Aviv, Israel, graduated from Oklahoma City University, OK, USA and later received her Master of Music degree from NIU in DeKalb, IL - one of the best Jazz studies programs in the world.
While a student, Sharon was the featured vocalist of the world renowned Northern Illinois Jazz Ensemble with which she has performed across the USA with some Jazz giants such as Frank Wess, Randy Brecker and more.
In addition, Sharon formed the Sharon Ben-Shem Trio which performed Jazz standards at local venues (Dekalb/Chicago, Illinois).
In 2004, Sharon self produced her first CD which featured 6 of her original songs along with 2 originals written for her by Michael Kirk, and arranged by Sharon for the CD.
In late 2004 Sharon returned to Israel. She has since been performing with numerous Jazz ensembles along with continuing to write more songs in both Hebrew and English.
In 2008, Sharon's music to Shimon Peres' "Ray of Hope" has been included in a special CD for peace which is nowadays being distributed internationally.
Sharon sings mostly Jazz and Brazilian music and writes her own music in both Hebrew and English, looking to produce her next CD in the near future.
