Been working with The Kickdowns, a Cincinnati based jamband. I haven't done much with Broadjam lately. These are just recordings I did by myself. I perform or sample all of the intrumentation here.

The Low-Down

I was born in Covington, KY. My father is a half-Cherokee country singer from Owsley County who was popular in the Cincinnati area in the 1970's. My mother was raised a farm girl, but loves the finer things. We didn't have much money when I was growing up. My father was a Union Sheet Metal worker who did a lot of work converting power plants from coal to nuclear and then back again. We once lived in a small house, but I spent most of my childhood living in an apartment complex. I always looked forward to the days when dad was off work so I could hear him play guitar. It was his morning ritual.

I was a troubled teenager who rebelled in high school. I was the Metallica shirt, ripped jeans type. Somehow I managed to graduate with a class rank of 401 of 404. I was smart though. I guess thats what frustrated everyone so much. I remember my friend lived in the apartments next to the high school. We were skipping school there one day - sitting on his deck that overhung the school parking lot! That's defiance! When I was about 17, I had a neighbor that was an absolute prick. He used to come and yell at us for being too loud at 8:00 PM when all we were doing was watching TV. To spite him, I bought an Epiphone bass and an 80 Watt 2x12 Crate Amplifier. About midnight I would put the amp in the stairwell between our apartments, crank it up to 10, turn the amp on and countown 4, 3, 2, 1 ..."E" "E" "E" "E" ... This is how my music career began.

Soon after this I began to explore classic bands like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Rush, Hendrix, etc. Rush began the process of healing me, but it was when I saw the Grateful Dead in 1990 that my eyes really opened to the power of music.

During this musical transformation I became a guitar player. I practiced a lot. I remember burning the midnight oil to learn the basic chords and it wasn't long that I started playing Neil Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the like. I was on my way...

But then something happened... This magical thing called love. I always fascinated about love, but the reality is that with love comes responsibility and if you're going to buy a home and have a family and stuff, you can't just deliver pizzas for the rest of your life (which I did for about 7 years). So I moved away with my girlfriend to Middlesboro, KY in 1997. Middlesboro is the valley that opened up once settlers passed through the Cumberland Gap. It's 1 mile from Tennessee and 1 mile from Virginia. It's really a nice place. It was there that I believe I really blossomed. I attened Southeast Community College and the faculty loved me. I graduated with an Associate Degree with a 4.0 GPA. I was appointed English Tutor of the school. I also won the Top Student Award and the Service Learning Award in 1999. Not bad for class rank 401 of 404. Oh yeah, in 1998 that girlfriend became my wife. All the while in MIddlesboro, I played guitar, wrote songs, etc. A lot of my country influence comes from my time there.

In 1999, we moved back to Northern Kentucky got real jobs and started a family, but I've never stopped playing. I also graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2001 with a BA in English - Summe Cum Laude. It's the music though thatt really has been the thing that's kept me sane through all the good and the bad.

2006 is really the first year I ever got serious about learning how to produce the songs I've written. Everything you hear on my site is recorded in my home. My equipment and my skill has evolved so you can tell differences in the quality of recordings. I've taken it so seriously that I enrolled in Berklee School of Music in 2006 and I will complete a Master in Production and Guitar this fall.

There's a lot more I could tell, but just listen to the music. If you hear something you really like please feel free to purchase it. Guitars, recording gear, amps, software, computers, and the like are not cheap y'know.
