Bio
Shannon Chase Donahue has something special to offer in this cookie-cutter music industry; originality. She has been writing from her heart since the impressionable age of 14 but still manages to grasp the concept of commercial viability. ?It doesn?t matter how deep your lyrics are if not one wants to listen to the melody,? Shannon says candidly. ?A lot of songwriters I know are so concerned with ?selling out? or being too ?commercial? that they forget the whole point of writing music is to make a song that touches people and stays with them longer than the three minutes they heard it on the radio. You can write a song that means something to you and still throw in a few hooks that make people want to hear more.?
By the young age of 23 Shannon has already accomplished more than some people their whole lifetime. She has traveled to 8 countries in Europe performing vocally with the United States Youth Ensemble at venues such as Notre Dame Cathedral and St. Mark?s Square. She toured the United States completely alone with a Greyhound bus ticket for a month and went from the east to west coast and back with her guitar and a few bucks in her pocket. She?s been sky-diving and house hunting and loved some bad boys and got married and even had a little baby boy. She?s recorded a CD ?Night and Day? and was lucky enough to have Michael Sweet of the band Stryper believe in her music so much that he played on her album. Shannon?s 23 years on Earth have definitely not been wasted thus far.
?Every day I am inspired by something new, ? she says. ?Some of my earliest songs are about Dylan and Brenda?s tumultuous relationship on Beverly Hills, 90210 I am embarrassed to say. I may not have personal experiences with heart break and loss and love everyday but I find the inspiration through my friends and movies and strangers I come in contact with. My well is never dry.?
Shannon has a current catalog of about 150 pop/rock/R&B songs and writes more everyday. Some artists she was and is influenced by include Mariah Carey, Jewel, Elton John, Michelle Branch, and Christina Aguilera. She also strives to learn anything and everything about song writing extraordinaire Diane Warren. ?I want to be just like her,? Shannon says. ?Most of my favorite songs were written by her.? Shannon is fun, easy going, easy to work with, and talented. ?I have a plan to make a name for myself as a singer/songwriter,? Shannon adds, ?And I am on my way to doing that one day at a time.?
