Story Behind The Song
I had just been on a whirlwind 4 week trip from Nashville to Los Angeles and then to Europe. This song was written upon my return home when I was jet lagged and missing the excitement of my trip. I wrote it through the night as watched my insomnia transpire. The alleluia's are a prayer or gratitude and also of longing to not be home by myself again.

Lyrics
She's lying in the night and she can sleep
Her mind machine is churning things
She wants to jump out of her skin
Just waiting for a little light to come in
Night's no different from the day
She can't sleep loneliness away
She hears the song play in her head
A broken record in her bed
Wonders if she should start the day
Get up and put some things away
Get an early jump on life
But she just stays in bed and writes
Closes her eyes to see the scene
The one where things seem out of reach
The one where wonder is a dream
The one where dreams are kind of mean
Wonders if she should start the day
Get up before the morning Rayne
Get up before the early bird
Get up so that she can be heard
Alleluia
The clock is ticking on the stand
Something for breakfast in her hand
Something that doesn't fill the need
And won't leave crumbs in the sheets
Wonders if she should start the day
Get up and find some bills to pay
The sun in peeking through the drapes
Somehow the loneliness still aches
Wonders if she should start the day
Shower the lack of sleep away
Shower away the dark of night
So everything will be alright
Alleluia...
She's lying in the night and she can't sleep
Her mind machine is churning things
She wants to jump out of her skin
Just waiting for a little light to come in
